Of the coaches in Mid Major programs who do you think will be the most coveted by the big time programs? Guy's like Jim Les of Bradley or Jim Larranaga of George Mason or any others you think may be hot?

I saw a couple of coaches in the women's tournament that looked pretty hot, but that's probably not what you're talking about. ;)

I like Jim Les as a coach more than the George Mason coach. I thought Bradley held their poise better than George Mason. The Bucknell coach (name escapes me)seems to have a lot going for him, too.

From what I have heard GMU's coach Larranaga will probably stay at GMU as long as they want him. He doesn't seem that interested in moving to a bigger school. He did interview with UVA a year or two ago sohe might would go there if that job opened up.

Another coach I failed to mention that I think is probably getting some notice is the Wichita State coach, Mark Turgeon. He seems to have a good deal of fire in him.

Jim Les is a big time coach. I watched him during that Kansas game and he was one cool customer. When they couldn't get the ball inbounds and turned the ball over he was nodding his head like, okay, we're fine, we'll get this taken care of. He had his clipboard out and fixed the problem immediatly. This guy will make a fine coach at a big school.

Among the current mid-majors, many big time programs would probably covet Tubby Smith. ;)

Give Tubby time he's working on making UK a mid major.

Bob McKillop from my school, Davidson. He's gotten numerous offers, but he doesn't want to leave (and I hope it stays that way!).

In case you don't believe me, here are a few quotes from other coaches:

Jim Beilein (West Virginia)
"Many times you only hear about the coaches in the power conferences being great coaches," "Bob McKillop is equal or better than any other coach that I know, and I've coached against most of the best in the country in my 13 years in Division I."

Matt Doherty (ex-UNC, FAU now):
"Bob McKillop is easily one of the nation's best coaches," Doherty says. "What he has done at Davidson is truly remarkable. He recruits top-flight students for one of the country's top liberal arts colleges and competes in the demanding Southern Conference along with a ridiculously tough non-conference schedule."

Rick Barnes (Texas):
"There are some great coaches out there who deserve recognition, and Bob is at the very top of that list."

Coach K (Duke)
"I've said this for about eight years, and I'm saying it again - Bobby's one of the best coaches in America, and when he has an experienced team he's got a chance to beat anybody," Krzyzewski said. "I have the utmost respect for his kids and the way they play. They play hard, together, smart. It took a really big effort on our part to win tonight."

Oh come on buddy, it was a harmless joke and not even off color. :?

Would you prefer I start a separate topic on the matter? ;)

Even though it was a joke, I think this topic is of interest to enough people that it shouldn't become a "yeah, Tubby - boo, Tubby" thread. Just trying to do my job. :?:P:blush:

Now, lets get back to the topic. :D

There's a guy named Pitino that did a good job at a mid-major last year. They slipped this year, but hey, that's life at a mid-major ...

Amazing RP. You've been hanging around for 1150 posts and haven't had a positive thing to say about anybody.

Sure you're posting about the right team????

Uncalled for...

While I'm not on the same page with RP at this moment, he has a long history as a valued member of the Wildcat Nation.

He's is as entitled to his opinions as you are to yours, and I am to mine.
