One of our members needs your permission to use parts of or whole messages you have contributed to the basketball forum this season. The member, SamKat, has been compiling posts for use in a book which will most likely be called: Kentucky Forum Posts 2005-2006 or a similar title. Please be so kind as to provide him a completed form granting your permission for the use of your contributions. He is not using all, but has selected ones which he considers relevant to the season, which is his prerogative as the author of the book. He needs your permission as the posts he uses will become his copyright in the book if you permit. If not, he simply will not use those posts of yours.



Sam is a retired metallurgical engineer, having graduated from UK in 1961 and retired from a metallurgical career in Jan 1998. He has four books published, as follows:

Sam is 73, and knows not how many years he will be able to write, but he has been a fervent fan of Kentucky basketball since the great seasons of the 1940’s. It has required approximately a year each for his books to be written and published. SamKat tells us that he intends nothing to harm the great University of Kentucky or the basketball program which he dearly loves. His personal goal is to get the manuscript to his publisher by April 15, 2006 and he should receive books within a month of his submission. Your renumeration will be the opportunity to buy one of the books at his cost of probably $13 per book, including shipping and handling. That will include taxes to those within the state of Ohio.



This has been an unexpected up and down season and posters have expressed much unhappiness from time to time; however, all sports fans realize that there is much more joy in winning than in losing. The unhappy times are being told along with the joyful times through the use of your posted information. Because we have been blessed with great success throughout many seasons with different coaches and different players, the Kentucky basketball team is down some this season, yet has won more games than any other college team.

Thanks very much Dan! I hope I get many responses. I have coompiled over 700 posts from four sites and will use as many as permit me to. You must realize that 700 is probably less than 3 % of all of the posts on these sites since last May.

In spite of the up and down season, I consider the posts respectful, although often critical of our beloved Wildcats. The team members did not always give praiseworthy performances this season.

Thanks to all who have indicated positively. I don't think a lot of people have read the message regarding the book as yet, at least that is the reason (I hope) that there are only these few replies on this thread. I realize there is not yet time to receive the snail mail signed copies I require.

There are excellent posts selected, in my mind, and I hate to delete any from the book, but I will. They communicate Cat thoughts from all over the world, literally. Cat fans are everywhere!

I see that 827 have read your message concerning my (our) upcoming book. Please note that I am not a con artist. Some have posted that they would like to know if any of their posts were selected. Please e-mail me skegley@columbus.rr.com (mailto:skegley@columbus.rr.com) and I can tell you if any of your posts were. Chances are excellent that WCN posts of yours have been selected.

AS OF THIS DATE- 3-28-2006- 763 individual posts are included; however, this number will decrease significantly if more posters don't submit the permission form. I have received 11 permission forms from WCN and four from a Private List. I value each one selected and will hate not to use a one, but my copyright lawyer says that I must have the signedpermission form touse the posts. I need the signed forms by April 8, 2006.

Perhaps nobody will read the finished book. An author or publisher never knows. In this 73 year old Kentucky fans' perspective, it will be an excellent read for Kentucky basketball fans. I say that, not in bragging about my work, because after all, this book will be your posts and your work. I am only a facilitator. I just require your permission to use your posts.

It will largely be as you say. I will have a preface, dedication, database-based table of contents of the postsand my conclusions.It will otherwise be copied posts in chronological order from May 2005 throughout this past season. I feel that there are so many good posts and I strongly believe the book will be so much better if I can use all or most of them. My fear is thatr people will not want to to the trouble of copying the permission form and sending it to me. I have no way of obtaining all of the addresses.

I love your idea of the book signing for the Nation if it could be arranged. UK fans are great people, even if we have been spoiled with basketball success throughout the years.

Yes it is a compilation at any rate, but it has required a lot of work to get together. I appreciate receiving your permission form, BigBlue75. You have posts that will be in the book. I think the idea of a book signing for the great WCN people is great and would like to see it happen. I received no new signed forms in today's mail and that concerns me. I intend to go on with the book anyway, but right now it is only around a hundred posts rather than the 763 I have copied.

Different persons compiling the posts my well choose different ones to peak their own interest. I tried to read in most of the threads that catch my attention, but certainly not all. Most of my selections have been from www.wildcatnation.net (http://www.wildcatnation.net) , but not all. Today's WCN home page shows 1280 members, 18,275 topics and 200,709 posts. I've selected 763 from the four main sites I visit and if 450 (at least) have been from WCN, that is .2 percent of all the posts made on this site. Not abig percentage; however,many people, like those submitting permission slips to me, have had one or more posts selected.

Starting from the word "Form" in the post above, left click and hold your mouse button, now drag down the post until you get to the line below the last blank line. Release the left mouse button and click "file" in the menu bar of the browser, click on "Print...". When the print dialog box comes up, click the "Selection" radial button in the "Page Range" box. This "should" print only the part of the post you have selected using the mouse.

I appreciate each of the returned signed permission forms. To date I have received 42 forms from WCN posters and 5 from a Private List (157 posts were selected for these 47 posters). That is 20.4 % of the 769 posts I had copied for the book. There were 15 forms in our mailbox today and 1 FAX. I believe that is the first group of regular mail received per WildcatGirl's and WildcatRick's reminding work this weekend. I have a lot of work to do on the book so I will extend the deadline to receive forms until April 13. Thanks for your tolerance of this pleading. I know that themore forms I receive will make a better book. I dislike deleting any of them, but I must withouta signed permission form for each poster whose post(s) are to be used.
