UK's highest scoring game this season was 83 points against UConn (breaking thisseason's previoushigh of 81 against both Liberty and Vanderbilt). In looking for a UK team that had a lower scoring high point game, one hasto go back 60 years to the 1946 season where UK's high point game was81.
I wish that UK would have more higher scoring games more often becauseI think that is quite attractive and not a big turn-off to both fans and recruits to play a style of play wherea decent amount of points are scored. UK really looked pretty good when scoring 83 in the UConn game.

I believe, I don't know for a fact, but it seems that in the NBA and the NCAA...scoring is down... because defenses are better. Even Boston Rick has lost the ability to score points. I think that this is just the way basketball is moving and I don't see it changing any time soon.

UK averaged - what? - 73 or 74 points a game this year?
That's pretty good. That can get you in the Final Four if you're playing defense. I thought in the last month or so of the season we were pretty good on the offensive end.
We just couldn't defend anybody consistently. This team couldn't get steals, get blocks, get deflections that would lead to easy baskets and bump that ppg up into the high 70s, where most national championship contenders are. Because of several issues (speed, length, heart) we couldn't take the ball away from our opponent. That hurt us offensively.
Offensive numbers, as the above poster said, are down across the board. The highest scoring teams in college basketball can not compete statistically with teams from even 10 years ago. It's just a different, more physical, more referee-dominated game.
And yesterday UCONN pretty much scored at will. It looked like they coculd have gone down and scored every time within the first 10 seconds of the shot clock. Their dominance against us offensively led to a fast game. Fast games lead to more points scored. We were good offensively yesterday, for sure, but we just couldn't do anything on defense.
Personally, I would've liked to have seen a game in the low 60s. Get it there and we beat them.
