And Meeks playing in pickup games. Still a bit sore according to Coach.

University of Kentucky forward Patrick Patterson, recovering from stress fracture surgery, will have a protective boot removed from his left foot today.

Patterson had surgery March 28 for a stress fracture in his left ankle, an injury that cost him the final four games of his freshman season.

The 6-foot-8 Patterson is UK's leading returning scorer and rebounder after averaging 16.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in 2007-08.

Patterson is in the midst of what is expected to be a 4-6-month recovery.

"He's progressing nicely," UK coach Billy Gillispie said yesterday.

Also making progress is guard Jodie Meeks, who had surgery for a sports hernia on April 13. Meeks played in eight games as a sophomore, averaging 8.8 points.

"Jodie has been back (on the court) for a little bit," Gillispie said. "He has a little soreness, which is normal, but he's playing pickup games."

Does anyone other than me think that it's funny that a LOUISVILLE based newspaper is reporting UK news and the LEXINGTON based paper doesn't have a clue about it? Rag!

The CJ and Danville-AM have had better UK sports coverage for a couple of years now.

Is that 4 to 6 months recovery from the time of the surgery or from the time he gets the boot off:shrug1:

I am not a MD but there is probably a lot of atrophy in the leg. It may take a while to get the strength back.

You're right, it is even hard for Tipton to find something negative to say about athletes recovering from injuries.........

When I went to UK in the 60's the Courier did a much better job of reporting Wildcat news and with much less venom than the Herald Traitor.
