On a very “inside baseball” note, Scott Stricklin, the UK sports media relations director, is leaving the University to take a position in athletic fundraising for Mississippi State University, his alma mater. Scott has done a great job with Media Relations during his time at UK and is one of the best people you will meet in such a position. Over the last few years, he has revolutionized the way UK deals with the newer types of media and he has been very successful in helping market UK sports, particularly basketball, in a more extensive way. Scott has also been very kind to those of us from this site and I can say without a doubt that if it were not for him, this site and my radio show, would not have the support and access that we have had. We wish Scott the best of luck at his new endeavor and he will most definitely be missed around these parts.

Hate to hear about Strickin leaving. He kept us Cat fans that live far away updated very well on the TV listings for the Cats. Best of luck to him.

I knew he was an MSU alum, but I would think that is a step backwards considering what he had going at UK. Probably wants to try his hand at home. I know that if I personally was working for another school and UK came calling, I'd go. I will say though, he was really involved in the 'olympic' sports at UK, plus his regular duties for basketball. Hell, he is the reason I was able to obtain credentials to photograph at any UK event from this coming season until 2011. I just hope the next guy is as nice and as outgoing as Scott.
