Anyone know whats going on with his visits? When and where he is taking them? I have a great feeling about this kid and I honestly believe he is coming to UK and knows it already. I am saying right now he commits to us after his last visit. Im hoping his last visit will be us and hell commit when hes on campus. But I just have a great feeling about him playing for us because of all the ties. Anyone know when his officials are?

From everything that I have heard and read, he is going to narrow his list down from 10110 schools to 10 sometime in July. The list will be narrowed again before his season starts to the 5 schools that he wants to take his official visits to. After his visits, he will announce in April. IF< he announces before April, things look good for the CATS but he wants to take all 5 officials.

His favorites, from the interview with Maggard, are UCLA and UK with the CATS holding a slight lead. His father was a speaker at the Father/Son camp last week, Cyp recruited his brother so they have known him for 10 years, and Larry (Daniels father) said he has had a strong relationship with BCG for 9 years. Relationships are important to them. They talked about the fanbase and wanting to play for a school that had great fans. Daniel said he thought the fans were great while he was here and one of the things he liked.

So, take all of that for what it is worth and wait until he makes something official. I am sure with UK being the leader, other schools are going to jump in and start putting us down. Mention things like the record from last year, how the fans and administration treated Tubby, how you are always under a microscope, BCG's bootcamp, etc. and try to persuade him to go elsewhere.

As long as we are one of the 10110 then we are at least still in the hunt, if not leading. If we get this kid and Mr. Patterson stays we could be contenders again. I have my fingers crossed.

Just a quick note for you. I was on Matt's site and he mentioned a wall that said "Daniel Orton please come to UK." Orton himself(supposedly) wrote on there that he was trying to get John Wall, Terrence Boyd, Plumlee, and some other guy to join him here. He said that with at least 2 more besides him, we could hang #8 in the rafters. This sounds very good IF true.(How do I put this link on here???, somebody, please).

Maggard says he just talked to Orton, and Orton verified that while the post was made from his account, he did not make it. He is going to ask Facebook to see if they can help find out who did.

Maggard is also Orton's "friend" on facebook, so that goes to show the power of that networking/communication tool. I thought it was kind of funny.

Just about to post this info. I suspected something like this because I listened to a recent interview of Daniel and his Dad Larry and it sure didn't seem that the facebook news was likely to me. It is still a possibility that we do land him though even though things like that hack can cause a player interest to sour a bit I think.

There are people, especially young people, who can pretty much do anything in the Ether. And IMO, that didn't sound like something Orton would say. The "8th national title" thing? The fact he's trying to "recruit" Wall? That's a UK fan's fantasy.

It's way too perfect.

Still, everything Orton has said otherwise is very heartening.

To me it is hard not to get excited this recruiting stuff. UK fans are not to used to being out of the top 10 and now we are out of the top 25 but not for much longer I suspect.

i agree with you whole heartedly. i read that and was like "ZOMG" but then thought about it, and it was way too idealistic from a UK fans perspective. if someone did hack into his account and post that, i hope to zeus it wasnt a UK fan cuz i cant see that helping our stock too much.
