Which has the better site…Or a better question: Which should I spend money on?

I don't think I would spend money on either. All that information is leaked in time, anyway; I see no need to pay for the premium services.

As far as the sites themselves, Rivals has much more traffic. Scout seems to have more of a connected following: Casey Johnson and Larry Vaught post there. I think the poster named Citizen BBN, who posts on the Scout board, is one of the better writers on UK basketball on the web. The Rivals board has much more movement, though.

As far as a community, I don't think you can do better than here. I have never posted to Scout or Rivals and I never will. There are a handful of people, especially on the Rivals board, who have no tact whatsoever. This site, although it doesn't have the membership that those two places do, is a good place to meet some wonderful people.

Yeah, I agree with you when you talk of the homey, warm environment this community has, but I wanted to simply watch the video reels of Brandan Wright, T. Young, etc.

Hell, this is where real UK fans hang out, and I'm glad I am here!

I held back to see what others would say since I've only been a member of rivals.com for about 4-5 months thru catspause.com but no one seems to replying to your first question. I am not going to be able to tell you about scout.com's services since I haven't tried theirs but from what I have read in the forums, it appears that rivals.com is regarded as the better service in terms of recruiting gurus who focus on UK sports (b-ball and f-ball). They do have highlight reels but I don't really watch the highlights at all (only once) so if that what you are really looking for hopefully someone who has more insight can share their thoughts on this aspect. The article's are good and give alot of insight to what is going on internally within the programs I like that part of the membership and plus getting updates on recruitment.

This is all I can share with you and hopefully you will find the information you are seeking. However, I know rivals.com has a 7 day trial. Perhaps you can try this feature out and I would think scout.com would have one as well.

But don't you agree that the info gets out anyway? If it were big news, like a signing of a recruit or something, it would be on the regular boards in about the same time it took to get to the premium board, right?

Seems like the premium topics on the House of Blue and on Scout's board are no different than the ones on the regular, non-paying forums. I've always thought that stuff was a racket.

Joneslab, my response to you while giving my opinion on the subject to those who are reading for guidance on whether or not to join a premium board.

I certainly agree that information about recruitment eventually gets leaked out to the free boards. BUT, that information is often times water down to simple messages like Brandon Wright's college choices and the order of his visits. I like more in-depth information that I know is straight from the source. There's so much crap out there and so many ppl who claim they know something its hard to seperate the trustworthy and well.... not so trustworthy. I know I post water-downed information here sometimes but its out of respect to the premium boards since paying members are paying for privileged information.

As for the premium boards, yes, alot of racket there but I've learned to take things with a grain of salt and prioritize my trust in certain members. But this is the least of my reasons to have premium access. If you going to join a premium board because you want to know things before everybody without premium access, go for it. But be prepared to be disappointed as some members have quit their membership bc some breakout news wasn't first reported on the premium board.

Rivals. That's all I have to say about that.
