Good article for its parts about Prince. Bad article for its pot shots at Tubby, which had little to do with anything, especially the part about Rondo's Game 7. How does that have anything to do with Tubby?

And while Prince was very good here, he was not even close to being the most physically gifted player here in the last 30 years. This guy knows little about UK basketball to say something like that.

Tubby Smith will be everyone's whipping boy...the more successful CBG is,
the more grief Tubby will get.
Ridiculous.
I think it's especially tacky when a lot of these guys making these kinds of remarks are the same ones that wanted to vilify Kentucky fans for wanting a coaching change.

Erardi's a Reds baseball writer for the Enquirer. Nuff said.
It's strange, but when you look back on Prince's four-year stay in Lexington, the Wildcats had three 10-loss seasons. The other was a nine-loss job his freshman year. But at least that year they got to the Elite Eight. I don't blame Prince for the team's lack of success. I blame the coach for not taking control of the situation and lighting a fire under the other players.
Sure our 2002 team underachieved, everyone knows that. But Tay's stay in Lexington includes the following:
2002 NCAA Sweet 16 (lost to national champ Maryland)
2001 SEC Champs
2001 SEC Tournament Champs
2000 SEC Champs
1999 NCAA Elite 8
1999 SEC Tournament Champs
Btw, Tay was a 2-time All-American 2001-02, the SEC POY in 2001 and a 3-time All-SEC player 2000 thru 2002.
These facts must be a space oddity to John Erardi.

:thumbup:, Matt. I read the piece and certainly agree.
When the writer says, "Take that, Tubby" in regard to Rondo's performance in that championship game (besides his negative comments about Coach Smith's coaching during Tayshaun's career), he's showing an "agenda." Actually, I suspect Tubby "took" Rondo's performance and was actually proud of his former player.
:thumbup: to both Prince and Rondo, but :thumbdn::thumbdn: to the writer for the "pot shots" that tend to detract from deserved praise for two former Cats. GO TAY! GO RONDO!

Is Tubby still the coach at KY?
Do Rondo and Prince still play here?
How dull is it this summer?
