View Full Version : Rumor Liggins might be qualified

Hearing that Liggins might be qualified or assumed to qualify. Supposedly Dave Kersey is saying he might be, and read where somebody had went to the father/son camp, and BCG introduced him as a new member to the team.

If true, awesome news for us!

I'm not knocking you Matt, but I'd like to hear something official.

Oh, same here! That's why I posted it as rumor and the "if true" statement at the end.

I'm not convinced until they put out the statement, but I like what I'm hearing.

I got the impression, from something I read somewhere, that we would hear something official today. Of course the day isn't over yet.

I just checked the UK Atheletic Department site and there is no post as of yet about Liggins...and yes, please be true.

It will be official soon enough. Go ahead and exhale. Liggins is member of the UK program. He arrived in Lexington around 3:30 am Thursday. His High School grades and his Grades at Findlay Prep have to cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse.

Dave Kersey usually has good info, IMO. In this case he is not the only one saying this. This will be huge if true.

It definitely sounds good so far. But how long it will take the NCAA is hard to tell. They like to drag their feet most of the time.

The NCAA Eligibility Center (formerly the NCAA Clearinghouse) prioritizes the initial requests for eligibility. The NCAA member institution must request this and UK did so. The NCAA allows you to replace one core course after graduating from high school As such, Mr Liggins has to submit his High school transcript and his Findlay Prep transcript. His SAT score is submitted directly from the test site, so long as Mr. Liggins so desiganted on his test form. UK has been informed his credentials will certify him, but official word will be made prior to July 3, 2008.

Hope this is true..... I can finally relax with the point guard situation for the upcoming season. Galloway,Liggins, and Porter along with some pretty good walkons should be more than enough to fill the position.

I saw where Maggard has confirmed he's on campus. I'm not an insider there, so I didn't read it.

One person on there said they went to the camp, and as I said above, BCG indicated he would be on the team next year.

So, while still not official, looking awfully good right now!

Thanks for sharing, Adolph. :) Too, I surely look forward to hearing the official word of Liggins' having qualified. :)

I absolutely missed this post earlier. I'm assuming you meant no word would be made prior to July 3rd.

Awesome news.

Next order of business is to sign Orton and or Wall or Stephenson, and to have Patterson come back for his junior year. This should be enough to put us back in contention for number 8.

Yep.

Still think we are a long shot with Wall, but that's based on nothing but a gut feeling. I'm definitely not going to sit here and count out Billy G and his staff.

I agree with not counting those guys out. Orton sounds pretty good right
now, but I've not been getting real good vibes on the boards about the
other guys.
Early in the game, though...who knows?

I hate to detract from the thread, but I'll be honest, I hope Stephenson doesn't come here. Too much baggage.

Although I have never heard of that before, I have a feeling I know what it's about. And I shake my head, not for the first time tonight. :thumbdn:

It's actually supposed to be pretty good. At least the Tomatometer gives it high marks. Just out this week, though I doubt it will ever make it to Louisville. Here's a link. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1204298/)

One of the Beastie Boys made the film, I think. Saw an article on the movie the other day where Stephenson was interviewed and he was actually portrayed as a pretty low-keyed kid. At one point he asked if Kevin Love was still mad at him because he'd accidentally elbowed Love during a pick-up game. I was sort of surprised given the almost insane hype he's received.

Now we're moving way-off thread, but the best basketball movie of all time is Hoop Dreams. I'm always amazed at how many basketball fans who haven't seen that movie or disregard it when it comes to the best basketball movies ever made.

That's what I get for making assumptions, lol. I figured it was another Borne Ready installment.

What I was talking about was the Willie Warren-esque recruitment so far. Add that in with quotes regarding the Army or Europe as possible options, and you might see where I get annoyed with it all.

However, it's notable that we know so very little about the recruits that it ought to be difficult to form such opinions.

Matt Jones is basically hearing the same things. Said we ought to know by next week or the week after for sure.

Edited to add: Jody Demling is also hearing the above, with rumblings that he might be qualified.

Let's put it this way, things are sounding pretty good on this topic!

never post but read KSR and other sites almost daily. FWIW, from a very key backer of UK sports. Liggins is qualified, will have an anouncement soon.

Has anyone got any news or info on the bit about Matt P trying to get
clearance to play in 08? I've seen several references to it on different
sites but I'm kinda lost.

I know that TSmith was cleared by the NCAA for UT last year but that
was a horrible situation. I certainly hope Mr. Pilgrim is not going through
anything similar.
Likewise, I haven't seen anything that Matt could base his eligibility appeal
on...nothing posted anyway.
Anybody have any info? Ideas?

I haven't seen any reason given anywhere. As you said, I hope it's not similar to Tyler's situation.

I would love to know what the grounds for the petition are.

They might just be taking a shot in the dark. He is, however, moving toward home, so it might be a family issue.

They'll take their time with us, the way it looks. Remember how long they dragged Morris' situation out.
