I know kids make mistakes, but if I were Felton; I would get rid of him. he is on a basketball scholarship and should be smart enough to know he shouldnt do this kind of behavior.

Wow, Felton has sure has had a tough time with player issues since he has been there. They should be better this season though and a tough matchup for anyone.

alcohol knows no age. It has made many of do things we truly regret later. But, it did not make him take the first drink. Hope he gets help.

It was one thing after another with Humphrey.
Kid just never could get it together. Shame, really, because he had a lot of potential. Pretty good player when he wasn't having his minutes cut because of mindless suspensions.

One thing I took from the article. They said he begged them "not to do this, you will ruin my career." Wrong Mr Humphrey, you ruined your career.

Drinking and driving is serious stuff. No agrument here but still it is sad. Evidently, with this being his second offense in a year he has issues with alcohol and needs treatment. I know fans are cynical today and when they hear that a coach has reinstated a kid who has multiple offenses they think it's all about W's. I'd probably get slammed as a coach because I do believe in second and maybe third chances. However, there can be no tolerance for drug dealing, theft or physical and sexual assault.

So, if I'm on academic scholarship and get arrested for similar offenses, but maintain a 4.0 GPA, I can still attend college (someone correct me if I'm wrong on this because I've never been on academic scholarship, just assuming). But Humphrey, who is still physically able to play basketball, gets kicked off the team and loses his scholarship??

This was his second offense, at least, and he'd had other run-ins with the law that weren't alcohol-related. He's been suspended multiple times.
I'm not sure what the rules for an academic scholarship are, because I was never a good enough student to get one, but I would think that the scholly'd be revoked at a certain point.

If he has had multiple suspensions and other run-ins with the law than I would agree that at some point, enough is enough. From how I read the article, this was his second legal issue (dealing with alcohol). But I believe you when you say there have been others.

It becomes a matter of insubordination, too, because you know the coach told him after his first offense not to do it again.

Here's what he's doing now: http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=822763
"Only 19 percent of Georgia basketball players who enrolled from 1997-2000 graduated within six years." OUCH

I would answer no, you can be booted from school.. Here is the authority from the UK Student Code of Conduct
In order to protect our community‚ certain standards of behavior are expected of all members of the University community‚ including students. In general‚ the University of Kentucky expects students to: maintain standards of personal integrity that are in harmony with the educational goals of the institution; observe national‚ state and local laws‚ as well as University regulations; and respect the rights‚ privileges‚ and property of other people.

"....Humphrey pleaded with police not to arrest him and was later warned that he could be tasered.
Also according to the report, Humphrey said "Please, please, please. I am begging you not to do this. You will ruin my career." The report indicates that Humphrey made the statement after acknowledging that he had "a few drinks" and was responding to the officer's question on what he had been drinking...."
so the police officer giving him a ticket would be at fault for "ruining his career"?....the whole thing would've never happened if he hadn't driven drunk....if any career is ruined it's HIS OWN fault....

Exactly, just as lighthouse said earlier in the thread. No one is at fault but Humphrey himself, and kudos to the police for not giving in to his plea. Also, may Humphrey soon realize that he himself is responsible for his choices in life.
