Well, I think I am here!;)I have been lurking and posting a little but not much since school has started. Since the first of August, I have had inservice, 3 new classes to get adjusted (3 of which are supposed to be potty trained but have had daily poopy in the pants episodes and 2 that cry ALL day for their momma/nana ), hubby's sleep apnea surgery and 3 weeks of recovery, hubby's severely sprained ankle with strained legiments after fall at the St Louis Cardinal game:shock:during this sleep apnea surgery recovery as well , dealing with a hateful aidethat was supposed to leave at the beginning of the year and I rearranged everything in our classroom only to find out she was not leaving yet, and now a mild case of bronchitis (docs words not mine:X; does not feel mild) from allergies caused by the now smoking tobacco barns located close to the school and throughout my drive home from school. So life is been a little hectic, tiring, and hair pulling since August.

During thistime have alsobeen keeping up with Katrina damage and recovery and helping out at school with donations/collections of items. Just heartbroken for them all and heartsick about one of my favorite cities, New Orleans.:cry:I just love the history and architecture in that area which is alos personal to me since some of my ancestors came from France and Italy to New Orleans in the 1700's and lived in the area ofwhere Audubon Park is/was now.

But when Ilook at what all those people are going through, my problems are nottoo bad and I will survive (eventually!:)) It all kind of puts it in perspective. So I hit Bath and Body Works and loaded up on bubble baths as well as some nice wines and try to have a few "Calgon, take me away moments!" :ggrin:

I am still around. Thanks for checking on me. Just you wait, when things calm down, you may be telling me to be quiet!

After all these years, the Calgon commercial line still goes through my mind occasionally, too :D. Have arelaxingtime with your new bath products cache! Sorry you have bronchitis/allergies, hope you can get lots of rest for that too.

Glad you are relatively okay, just got to thinking about the surgeries, etc. and wanted to check in .

Well girl if you can't vent here with the wildcat ladies you will need more than a relaxing bath:D We are here for you.

Thanks for what you are doing for victims of Katrina. And pass on your ideas here. Kendall wants to get her school in gear so badly but she feels helpless. She was so mad they wouldn't listen to her after it first happened.

Awh, thanks girls!:blush:We all need a place to vent sometimes. I even laughed that I was going to get a punching bag to work off frustrations as well as maybe lose a few pounds. Just afraid it will have to be a real heavy duty punching bag!;):ggrin:

Hubby is much better and sleeping good. Has ankle in a brace and they think it is only sprained legiments, not torn. But overall on the road to full recovery finally!

We collected everything from clothing, food items, household items to toys and books. One morning you could not even get in the lobby of the school because of all the sacks and boxes. I have been trying to think of any need that we might have missed. Just the thought of having to start from scratch is mind boggling to me. Just cannot imagine for those going through it. :cry:I was reading on Nola.com different articles and one that just tore at my heart was a mom talking about her children in a hotel and how they were holding up. She said they were doing ok but her son asked her " Mommy, does Santa Claus come to hotels?" Just reminded me of the holidays coming up and how much I love to decorate my house for Christmas and all my cherished ornaments collected through the years, feed the trick or treaters, Thanksgiving with my inlaws where my mother in law always uses thissentimental goffyturkey platter to serve turkey on(yes, even my in laws!;)) while these folks have lost everything from cherished Christmas decorations to family pictures to even maybe their goofy turkey platter. Just the little things that we take for granted but love. I would love to come up with an idea to help make the holidays a little more special for them. I feel like the Samaratins Pursewill be doing something for those close to home instead of overseas so will do some of those kids boxes or the Salvation Armybut just wish my brain would think of something else special.:?

Tell Kendall to think on it and she will come up with something to help. They showed a young girl from CT I think that started a program "Children for Children" and was stuffing duffel bags with a stuffed animal to send to All the children involved. Another collected school supplies in back packs. Rooms to Go is donating furniture and had an ad asking for household items like dishes, blankets, sheets, towels, etc.. to go with the furniture to set up new housing. A group of ladies atchurch are getting together to crochet baby blankets and afghans to send. So many people coming to the aid of others.

Thanks again girls.

It's going to be more difficult to helpwith the little thingsas people move out ofshelters andinto more permanent housing. Maybe public schools would be away to keep track of that. Those needswon'tbe over for a long time.
