'I talked to Wall after I spoke with Oklahoma big man Daniel Orton, another top UK target from the '09 class. As Wall was getting up from the table, Orton came over and said "did you tell them we're going to Kentucky?" Both players smiled and Orton said, "let's just do a press conference here." He laughed and Wall didn't say a word.'
Oh if only this turns out to be true...make a room in the rafters because we would have #8!!!

I'd like to have been there for that comment. Demling makes it sound good, but I kind of wonder if Orton was just being sarcastic, especially in light of the facebook thing.

That was my first thought when I read it but it still sounds good.

Somebody made a group basically for uk fans to join and show support in an effort to woo him here (I joined too! :icon_lol:). Somebody apparently hacked into his personal account and wrote on the group that he was going to try to help persuade Wall into coming here too so they could hang number eight. It really was his personal account, so you image the visions of grandeur that roared through Cats fans' heads (I fell for it too :icon_redface:). Should have known better based on his previous interviews.
That's why I'd like to have been there to hear him say it.

I don't know how they mean the comment, as a joke or not, but I take it as a positive. Take it for what it's worth; but Demling put it in his blog. Top recruits mentioning us is a good thing. Would also love to get Barnes.

Definitely a reference to Facebook. Timing of it is too coincidental, IMO.

I, too, thought and think the same. I think the comment was merely in reference to Facebook. HOWEVER, I am surely hopeful that the two do indeed choose Kentucky. How exciting and great that would be! :)

Speaking of the CJ, I looked at and read today's issue and thought about the contrast between the CJ and the LHL. Remember some of the LHL Tipton's pieces (the ones with Dusty Mills' comments and the focus on players injured in hard practices) and how fans were concerned that he was negatively affecting Kentucky's basketball recruiting. Well, today, the CJ's Jody Demling has a really favorable piece for Louisville recruiting. On the front sports page alone in an article which is continued on another page, about one half of the page is devoted to three top players Louisville is recruiting from Seattle, along with signee Peyton Silva. There are pictures of all three of the recruits, two pictures of one of the recruits and a really large picture of another recruit.
Anyway, the difference between the philosophy of the two papers (and the CJ has always been considered a "statewide" newspaper) was most obvious. It was like NIGHT and DAY. Just sharing the observation. :) GO CATS!!!
