From an email about ordering away game tickets:
"We look forward to seeing you at the UK Football Spring Game on Saturday, April 22
at 1:00 pm."
I would have rather had a later time, in order to enjoy Keeneland, but no doubt this will suit some people better.

If the University really wanted to drum up attendance to the Spring game they would we best served by not scheduling it on the same day as Thunder over Louisville every year. I would bet that there would be a much larger contingency of fans, especially from the Louisville area like myself who would make it if it weren't for Thunder. And considering Thunder is the kickoff for Derby, I am sure there are a lot of Lexington folks who come to Louisville for the show. At least schedule it for the Sunday after.

I know I can't be there because of Thunder.

I'll be at Fan Day in August.

I am planning on going to the spring game, if I don't have to work. This time of year is extremely busy for us. I've seen the Blue Angels and they are awesome. But something is missed if you don't see the precision of their pre-flying routine. Not to mention their airshow take-offs. The C-130 they have for the ground crew is pretty cool too.

It was hotter than blue blazes though. Might see if we can go again this year. Its been a while.

Some years the spring game is the same day as the Derby Classic basketball game. I remember going to both in 2004.

True. I love it when they are on the same day, as it makes our long trip much more worthwhile, first watching the football Cats and then going back through Louisville to watch future basketball Cats.

I saw the BlueAngels twice in Evansville...can't believe they were desperate enough to come to Eville, let alone twice. I've always wanted to see this thunder show in Louisville but as long as it is on the same day as the spring game I will miss it. My heart has been and always will be with Kentucky football and that's where I plan to be!

I will for sure be at the Spring Game, haven't missed one for a several years. I am sure WCN will have an informal gathering, half tailgate.
I do wish that the UKAA would figure out a way to schedule this event so it had ZERO conflicts and then market the pants off of it. Free food, soft drinks, first class entertainment pregame, anything and everything to get the students there, SPEND SOME $$$$$ on the fans who need some payback.
Last years game was miserable, cold, drizzle, (Can you say wind chill)a few thousand souls braved the event, but I hope mother nature and the UKAA conspire to make this years a real event.
Hey, DEN, we used to go camping at Fort Pickens, east of Pensacola Beach and we would see the Angles flying overhead for practice every day.

One factor in the 1pm kick off time might be the 6:30pm starting time for the Batcats and the 5th ranked SC Gamecocks.

I have emailed Mitch and asked them to consider having the game on sunday because of the events discussed above..I cannot imagine anyone wanting to go to Thunder instead of uk football even if it is a spring game.. Mitch said he would broach the topic with the staff and see what the feelings were...I will be at the spring game with my family regardless of time...Go Cats..

Here's my 2 cents. Football takes precedence over some fireworks and aerial acrobatics.Another negative,it's in loovul. As mentioned above you can double dip and see the Bat Cats in lovely Lexington later that evening. Moving the game to Sunday would create a conflict with the Bat Cats game so I say no to the move.

Why couldn't this game be on Sunday? I've been to many Spring Games. For the most part UK anything takes priority over other events. I plan on coming to fan day.

My point was not necessarily to question peoples priorities, but i directed it more at the Administration in general as a way to increase attendance and exposure in general. I know that most people on here, at least most of those outside Louisville will priortize the football game, but there are a lot of fans out there who would like to see Thunder. Like it or not, Thunder IS a bigger deal than the UK spring game, it is the worlds largest fireworks display each year, and one of the nations largest airshows. It's an all-day event attended by over 1/2 million people if the weather cooperates. I'm sure out of that 1/2 million are a few folks who would have otherwise attended the Spring Game. This type of scheduling would never occur in Florida or Alabama or Knoxville.

Trublujr, You are right on point.
I and probably hundreds of others have emailed the UKAA in the past about how the spring game should/could become a much more fan friendly event. The fact that they continuously schedule this without giving something like Thunder consideration is very disappointing to me. The game should be scheduled so there are no choices to be made, other then to go or not go.
A couple of years ago I formulated the sketch of a plan to upgrade the spring game.I forwarded it to the UKAA and latter received a call and was in conversation with a couple of individuals about the ideas. For a while it seemed to me that someone was carrying the ball on making this a bigger and better plannedevent, but by my observations I believe the ball has been dropped.

Thanks for trying Ed. You know how much I love UK football. I would be there. Heck, depending on when we have to be on the river, I may come for the tailgate.

Nice thought, but impossible. There will never be any such thing as zero conflicts. No matter when they schedule it, it will interfere with something.
