Gary Williams 2nd team, Jarmon and Lindley 2nd team, Kelly and Micah Johnson 3rd team.
I don't ever remember having 2 LBs or 4 players on D make the preseason All SEC list. At least not for a long, long time.

A couple of interesting items. First, they only have three first team DL. I sus[pect that may have kept Jarmon from being first team. Secondly, they have Micah Johnson third team LB. While I am confident that Micah will earn that honor, at least, it is also true that he has never even been a full-time starter at UK.

In my opinion, putting Trevard Lindley on the second team is a joke. He definately deserves to be first team in my opinion.

Florida - 10
Georgia - 9

The University of Kentucky was the only team not represented on the football coaches’ pre-season All-Southeastern Conference first team announced Monday.
The Wildcats did have five Wildcats made the second or third teams., but two notable UK players omitted from the first team were defensive end Jeremy Jarmon, who finished fourth in the league in sacks last year with nine, and cornerback Trevard Lindley, who is on the preseason watch list for three national awards. Jarmon and Lindley were named to the second team.
Also earning second-team honors was offensive lineman Garry Williams, who has been a three-year starter at left tackle.
Linebackers Micah Johnson and Braxton Kelley were named to the third team. Wide receiver Dicky Lyons Jr., who has 108 career receptions for 1,488 yards and 16 touchdowns, was not selected.

Five Kentucky Wildcats – offensive tackle Garry Williams, defensive end Jeremy Jarmon, cornerback Trevard Lindley and linebackers Braxton Kelley and Micah Johnson – were chosen for the Coaches’ Preseason All-Southeastern Conference Team announced Monday by the league office.
Williams, Jarmon and Lindley were named to the second team, while Johnson and Kelley are third-team selections:
Williams, a senior from Louisville, is the team’s most experienced offensive lineman and has started the last 25 games at left tackle. He earned second-team All-SEC honors by league coaches for the 2007 season.
Jarmon, a junior from Collierville, Tenn., totaled 62 tackles last season, including 13.5 tackles for loss. He had nine quarterback sacks, ranking fourth in the SEC in that category. He was named first-team All-SEC by Rivals.com and second-team All-SEC by league coaches last season.

I agree 100%. You are going to hear the phrase "shut down corner" and Lindley in the same breath this season. This kid has NFL written all over him.

It's going to be fun to see these guys make first team AFTER the season.
LaFell and Byrd of LSU are both pre-season LSU wide receivers. I didn't see any UK safeties carried off the field after being blocked by those guys last year. Actually, I believe the UK WR corp ran circles around them. With Kennan Burton and Steve Johnson out of the rotation, I hope to see Richard Lyons run a few circles around them. Too bad he doesn't get to go down to the Bayou to show them how a real WR can block, catch and make the extra yards. I know all 6 of the all-SEC wide receivers are very good athletes, but I don't see any gap between them and Richard Lyons. It may be that Richard just doesn't look like what they think a WR should look like.
With our offense, I want Richard Lyons to line up ahead of any of those guys... even Percy. At the end of the year, we'll see who has the TDs and all-purpose yardage. My money is on Richard Lyons.

this is consistent with a thought that I've had since last season: our defense this year will be the best we've seen in a long long time. Personally, I think our D will more than make up for what we lost on offense.

Percy Harvin, while a quality athlete, might be the most overrated guy in the league. I just think you should have to be able to stay on the field instead of getting hurt every other game to be first team.

Exactly, johnkyblue. That had been my reaction, too. Further, those selections AFTER the season are the only ones that really matter.
In regard to both Lindley and Jarmon, in particular, I have the highest expectations for both of them, based on their outstanding play last season. Also, I'm hoping all of those UK defenders are especially fired up this season, along with Dicky Lyons. :icon_biggrin:

Ditto. If Trevard Lindley isn't first-team all-SEC, nobody is.

Injuries aside, I think Harvin is the most exciting player on offense in the SEC. Against poor and even mediocre teams, he runs like the opposition is moving in slow motion. Against good and great teams, he still makes big plays consistently. Was he really injured that much last year? I only remember him being out for a game or so.
