Orton or Wall to play for us in 2009, who would you choose?
I have 2 choose Daniel Orton. He's a big time beast, and i dont believe he would be one and done! :shrug1:

Definitely Orton. He could follow Patterson as our next high profile interior player.

I personally like wall but orton for us seems to be the most logical of the two. I think ppat will be around for his 3rd year, especially after he finds out what kinda team he has to play with . If you look at it like that then wall is the best choice or get i would think? Either way both are Very good gets as far as i'm concerned.

With all this Orton talk, I keep seeing this Renardo Sidney out there. No offer as of yet, but nobody seems to talk a lot about him. What's the comparison between the two? Both are 6-9 260 and highly rated. Besides the fact that Orton is listed to play C and Sidney a PF. Just wondering if some of you recruiting hawks have any opinions.
I think I'd have to take Orton as well. I think Liggins will be a nice PG and Patty will leave some big shoes to fill.

Renardo Sydney eliminated UK from his list. Scout hasnt updated his list lately, but he said in an interview that he isnt very interested in UK

No contest, I would rather have Orton. And I am not just saying that because I believe he is more likely to sign with us. I figure we will not have PPAT very much longer and we will once again be in need of strong dominant inside force and of course Orton fills that role. Can you imagine what will happen in Rupp when he comes in and shatters a backboard! The place will go insane. I would love to get Wall but I believe if we had to choose it should be Orton. Though, I would love seeing Wall throwing the alleyoop to Orton and then seeing the backboard shatter. Yeah.....that would be great!!!!!!:5x

All sounds great and would love to see it. For my money, I would prefer Orton and Morris kid from CA. I would like to have Wall but I think Morris is pretty dang good would likely be here for two years. I think PP will be here for his third year. His mother wants him to graduate or be very close to graduating. He is working hard and will likely accomplish this in 3 years but not 2 years. You left one person out of your equation-- don't forget about Pilgrim.
Wrap your mind around this for a minute:
Inside: PP, Orton, Harrelson, Pilgrim, Stevenson, Stewart and possibly Carter
Wings or Guards that can play low or high: Miller, Meeks, MORRIS/WALL, Porter, Hood, Liggins and Galloway if they qualify.
Throw in the walk-on's that could make a name for themselves with hard work and you have a pretty scary line up.
Don't know if you were counting but the above puts us at the limit and that is not including Carter. You have to throw GJ in there somewhere. There are a few options here -- he could go to a prep school and come in the following year. Porter could leave but I don't see that happening. Galloway could throw his hat in the ring-- he has made comments that he wants to make it to the NBA as quickly as possible. If BCG can make that happen after 1 year with him, the flood gates will open for kids wanting to come here. PP could leave and the list goes on and on.
If the above happens, you would have to question what Tubby was doing all this time. I like the guy but UK should have been reloading year after year once Ricky left. The above lineup would put us in the top 10 for the whole year and make a run at the championship.
Happy Days are here again--The sun shines bright on my ..............

No contest whatsoever. Wall seems to be a sure fire one and done (which I personally do not want) and Orton will be at least a 2-3 year player. Not to mention we have Vilarino and Ross-Miller coming in and Liggins and Galloway to run the point. This is a major no-brainer.
Orton, Orton, Orton.

Ross-Miller won't be here until 2010 right?

I believe his point was (if Galloway and Liggins get qualified) that we will not have as big of need at PG for a few years. He did not mean that Ross-Miller was coming in 2009.

Not even Orton could shatter a backboard in Rupp Arena, its never happened there. BTW, I'd take Orton

For me it's also a no brainer, but I'd take Wall with out hesitation.
I like Orton and all, but we're talking about John Wall here. Let's not forget. You get a chance to take a one and done, you take em. It's pretty simple.

Orton first, especially if Patterson leaves.
I think if Orton comes, Wall follows.

Hopefully Orton hasn't lead him somewhere else. From Jody Demlings blog (http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/demling/2008/07/las-vegas-day-one.html#comments)recapping Day One at the Adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas.
North Carolin guard John Wall, the No. 1 prospects in the class by Rivals.com, also had a sensational second half and finished with 30 points. Wall also had 11 assists (that's a lot for AAU). Folks, this kid is really good. He gave me a list of schools that included: Memphis, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Kansas, Kentucky, Baylor and N.C. State but said he was "really wide open." The whispers have picked up around the gyms on Wall and the word out now is Oklahoma State or Baylor. We shall see soon.

Both! I've admitted before to being greedy when it comes to Kentucky basketball. I want us to get ALL the good players.

I would take Orton, you can't coach size and he seems like a beast, plus there's a chance he stays 2 years so you're looking at a front court of Orton and Ferguson.....OUCH! Plus Patterson is a likely leave after this year and we will need a stud down low.
Wall is a special talent, no doubt about it, but you have to have size...everyone gives Rose the credit for Memphis's run in the tournament, but they had two beasts in Dorsey and Dozier who had a lot to do with their success..plus, with Liggins and Galloway having 1 year under BG I feel confident enough with them running the point.

We NEED Orton worse than we need Wall. However as Gordon Gecko said, "Greed is good." Lets take em both and save the debate!!!

I have been saying for 6 months now that he would end up at Okie State. His best friend is there and Travis will put together a very appealing system for Wall. When the rumblings were that he was headed to Memphis, I cautioned that Okie State (while not being mentioned much by him) would be the leader by August.
I would love to see him at UK but if Liggins and Galloway get qualified, GJ comes in next year and Ross-Miller the following year-- there is less of a need to land Wall. While he would be a welcomed addition, he would not as important as PP was when he announced. Orton would be a huge get and if he could somehow pull Barnes, Morris etc. with him, we will miss Wall even less. Wall is a great 1 and done player but with what BCG is putting together, the PG position is not a need for scoring as much as keeping eveything under control and fluid. Thus allowing the wings and bigs do their job.
This is why Jasper will not be missed as much as everyone thinks. The guy could rebound-- but the guys coming in can pick the slack up there. He was not a great scorer so no big loss. He could pass because he was big enough to see over the defender and both Liggins and Galloway will be able to do that (if they are cleared) and as for free throws, my 4 year old could should 37% after a weeks worth of practice.
The two biggest "holes" have been a "true" center and "pure" shooter that is consistant. Hood will help next year and if Orton comes, look out.
