I created a spreadsheet showing how we have our scholarships allotted currently through 2016. I show that we still have two open for this upcoming season but run into problems for 2009. Does everyone agree with what I have or am I missing something?

I like this. It's very well designed and easy to read. Not confusing at all.
But I think Gillispie might be counting on someone going to the NBA or transfering, considering we have no schollys for 09 yet we're still recruiting Favors, Wall, Orton, Morris, and alot more! :shrug1:
Idk I hope we can free up another scholarship for Orton.

Excellent work on this. Looks correct to me assuming everyone still comes to UK and stays 4 years, which I think is highly, highly unlikely

01-11 season looks promising considering the players listed on that season which if stays the same i could see a championship. Liggins ,Jon Hood, Patterson and who knows who else.

I love it. Only a UK fan would have scholarships projected out to 2016 in a spreadsheet.
The best basketball program, and definitely the best fans.

Ain't that the truth. I find myself thinking about high school players I've never seen before quite a few times throughout the day. :icon_redface:

This is the reason why all the other schools talk about us and claim that were 11 up and 3 down, 8 the ---- up.
I wouldn't have it any other way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I figured I could update it when and if anyone was to leave early. Obviously, as we get back to our rightful place in college basketball this could be happening yearly.

Not sure what we do for next year. Even assuming PPat leaves, which I hope he doesn't, that puts us at 0 schollies. With all of the great 2009 players interested in Uk, it doesn't leave us much room to work with.

Next year's going to be a little messy. If you don't like pulled scholarships, you won't like next year.
Wages of sloth.

I hate to say this, but if pulling a scholarship away from a guy like Porter means opening one up for Orton, I think I'm fine with that.

I think I remember reading that Porter is on track to graduate in three years anyway. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but if that's the case, that could be one solution. However, if it is not, I am in no way "fine with that". Honoring scholarships is a big deal. Aside from the ethics of it, the ramifications would be completely adverse. The UK program would lose face with a lot of potential recruits that wouldn't know if their scholarship would be honored in two years. JMHO.

Updated the spreadsheet to show the scholarship used for Pilgrim this year. I am still not confident that it counts against 2008 but Will says it does and he smarter than me (he wrote a book :icon_biggrin:)

Agree. You just don't do that, in my opinion.

We're paying a coach the big bucks to worry about all that and work it out.

Wise counsel Sardiscat. Is that Sardis Mississippi. All of my people are from Pope Miss. not to far from there, good folks in that part of the country.
Assuming that Jared Carter has a decent year this year, then will he go after the medical redshirt year? If he does and remains on scholly we're already one over for next year. This coaching staff has a lot of juggling to do just to bring Orton in.

Yes it is. I work in Memphis but started living down here about 20 years ago just because I got a great antebellum house for 1/2 of what a small hovel in Memphis would have cost. The longer I've been here, the happier I am to be living down here instead of in Memphis.

Carter would indeed be eligible for a redshirt but I am not sure that UK would offer a fifth year unless there is some significant improvement. I could see a possibility of Carter coming back for a fifth year but perhaps not on scholarship.
I am pretty sure that Pilgrim will have a scholarship for this season as Will indicated. Not a big deal for this season as if he does not use I do not see BCG adding anyone else for this school year but then I would have said that before Williams. BTW, I hear that Marc Maggard is reporting that Williams is only going to be on scholarship for this year and go off scholarship for his remaining years of eligibility. Interesting and suddenly a GREAT pickup by UK if true.

Updated the Scholarship spreadsheet to include Orton. What is not included is the rumor that Williams scholarship is for one year and then he will walk on.

Maybe Donald Williams will walk on next year and another player has a shot at an academic scholly? A transfer is another obvious possibility.
