Sixty-six-year-old Rich Brooks, the elder statesman of Southeastern Conference coaches, just doesn't seem to fit into this annual parade of Southern-fried football.
His accent has no twang, no drawl. Even his tie seemed a decade out of place. Odds are, he'd turn down sweet tea.
But Kentucky football fitting into the SEC? He's got that down pat.
Brooks' Kentucky program is coming off consecutive 8-5 seasons and bowl wins, the first time the Wildcats have put together back-to-back winning seasons since Jerry Claiborne-coached teams went 6-5-1 and 9-3 in 1983 and 1984.
