Rivals.com No. 1 player in the Class of 2009 - John Wall - led the D-One Sports team with 20 in the title game. Wall was sensational again this week and is in the mix - in my mind - when talking about the best player nationally. Wall had 30 points in two games for the D-One Sports team. Now, is he ready to make a college pick? Whispers in Las Vegas have him close to committing to Oklahoma State and Wall told me that he would like to make a few visits before he starts the new school year. He listed this week: Memphis, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Oregon, Kansas, Baylor and N.C. State.
California Supreme beat Mac Irvin Fire in the semifinals and then took out Houston Hoops in the title game of the Nike Main Event. In a loss, Keith Gallon had 24 for Houston Hoops. The mammoth post player has seen some interest from Kentucky and UK coach Billy Gillispie did watch at least one Houston Hoops game this week.
Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie was in Orlando today at the AAU Super Showcase. Actually, I was in a sports book prior to my flight this afternoon and there was coach Gillispie on an ESPNU set being interviewed by Andy Katz.
