Towards the bottom of this CBS article, it says we will find out about Liggins eligibility at Noon on Friday. I'll be holding my breath until then :confused:

I do believe it stated if the NCAA was to place the Liggins being elegible question on a Poll the UK faithful would make sure it was passed by noon Friday. Paraphrased.

Eh, I don't think it's cheap at all. He was just making the point that UK fans love a poll--and it's true. Notice that every time there's a poll on these message boards the threads go on for days and days and everybody and their brother chips in to vote. Multiple times.

That's what makes us great, of course. But it's still funny. :icon_mrgreen:

I can see how it could be interpreted either way and I am not trying to stir something up here. My point is that I love the fact that there are many out there that do love to take a cheap shot at us. It is because we are relevant again and I believe many can see a bright future for our prestigous program. And of course because they are jealous, no matter if they admit or not. It is something to be said about our state and its smaller population that can outmatch California or any other schools dedication to the team. I love it.:icon_mrgreen:

I sure hope Liggins gets cleared to play. I have read some recent Summer Camp Reports that all say that Liggins is the real deal. Of course, we always hear some over hyped reports each year but these sound pretty darn legit. Harrelson is getting good reports as well. Also, it seems that Meeks is showing very well and no problems from the injury. Good stuff on several other players too.

For my money, it's a cheap shot. At times it seems as though much of the national media really has disliking for the size and power of the UK fan base. Some of it could be envy, who knows? I think this comment directly results from the recent poll where we beat UCLA, and it's obvious someone doesn't think we should have. But that's just my take on it. You could right, and maybe I am way too sensitive. :shrug1:

Now I fully agree with this. I've made this point on WCN many times.

But I don't think it's just UK. A lot of media guys hate fandom in general. They don't understand it because they're trained to be objective. (Some, of course, let their non-objectivity shine through from time to time.) They almost look at a big fanbase as...I don't know...ignorant or something. They can't understand that passion.

This is why I could never write for a national newspaper or anything, and it's why I really detest Jerry Tipton. I'm a homer. Always have been and always will be, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

HOWEVER, the thing about calling out every article that comes down the pike for being anti-UK is this: it mutes the real issues of bias that are there. If we're complaining about everything--every article, every writer, every line--then it's easy for a person to say, "UK fans just hate everybody in the media." That's not true, at least not for me. There's only two or three writers (Tipton, Goodman) that I believe have an honest-to-God bias, and so I try to just spend my time hating on those guys so it'll carry more weight. :icon_mrgreen:

Okay - I just read the article. I think it's hilarious. And true. I see nothing derogatory toward UK in the least.

Gosh - I'm still chuckling at the results of his "list". Good article.

Geez - but methinks we take ourselves too seriously at times.
