Darrius Morris, a 4 star PG in the class of 2009 is set to announce his college decision on Friday. He is the 13th ranked PG according to Scout and 10th ranked according to Rivals. I hope he signs with UK, especially with the word that John Wall is headed to Baylor.

Wall to Baylor and an outside possibilty for Okie State. I would prefer that UK land Morris but it has long been noted that Michigan is his first choice.

As for Wall, if UK can not get him, I am happy whatever he chooses as long as it is not Duke, NC, Memphis, or any other SEC school. He is one and done so what do we really lose? The more important thing is that Liggins and Galloway are cleared. I would take both of them over 1 Wall when you considered what they will bring for the future.

Interesting news on Wall to Baylor.

I've been hearing that it's an Oklahoma State lock for about a month now.

Well it pretty much was an Okie State lock for a really long time, but that was before Wall's AAU coach took a coaching job at Baylor. Wall and his coach are like family, so its no surprise that he will follow him there.

Think it just came out today.

Unless I'm mistaken, Oklahoma State was set to hire the AAU coach at one point.

Hard to really get too up in arms about this because UK's done it before, most recently with Simeon Mars and Jamal Magloire. But it's still (more than a little) shady.

UK should hire every high school/AAU coach coming down the pike, if it reaps players of Jamaal Magloire's caliber. I sure miss the playing days of Mags. That would be the last era that UK had a dominating low post defense.

Yep. Last really mean guy we had.

I miss that swagger.

Not that this has anything to do with Darius Morris, but for the posts directly above, they say Matt Pilgrim has a little mean streak in him :)

Who knows, Patterson might be an enforcer if he didn't have to play 60 minutes of a 40 minute game (which he might not have to do this year!)

Hasn't spoken yet so Wall will withhold his commitment just a bit more.

I believe it was the younger brother of his AAU coach that Baylor hired. But his hiring is generally assumed to mean that Wall is going with him.

It was Wall's AAU coach Baylor hired. The coach's older brother already works for Baylor.

Not according to the story on CBS Sportsline:

"D-One Sports coach Brian Clifton told CBSSports.com on Thursday that Baylor has hired his brother and assistant, Dwon Clifton, as its director of player development. On the surface, it's a meaningless transaction. But given that the Cliftons coach elite point guard John Wall, sources have indicated this transaction will almost definitely lead to Baylor gaining a commitment from the Class of 2009's top prospect, and sooner rather than later."

Do you have a different source?

I was wrong about the older brother already working for Baylor, but it is the AAU travel coach that is being hired by Baylor.

Agreed, but read the sportsline link, it clearly states that Dwon Clifton is the younger brother of Brian Clifton the coach of D-One Sports. Dwon was his brother's assistant, coached Wall, and joins his former Clemson assistant coach Mark Driscoll on the Baylor staff. Dwon played for Clemson in the early part of this decade.

Seems like these reports could get their act together, huh?

Michigan it is.

Basketball: Windward's Morris makes decision, commits to Michigan (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/varsitytimesinsider/2008/08/windwards-morri.html)

Been following Darius Morris for quite some time now, making sure to keep tabs on how the whole recruiting process was going for the highly regarded senior from Windward, and I honestly thought he was going to commit to Michigan. Turns out, someone was right.

The 6-foot-3 point guard held a press conference, of sorts, Friday afternoon in Los Angeles and announced that he orally committed to play for the Wolverines despite having scholarship offers on the table from programs such as Kentucky, Stanford and USC.
"It came down to picking the school that showing me the most love and that school was Michigan,'' Morris said. "They have been recruiting me hard for a while now, and that was one of the big reasons I decided on going there for the next four years of my life.''
