Now that we know what we face, let's hear some predictions on final record, possible upsets for us and against us, and any other interesting tidbits you would like to add. The more detailed the better! Hell, you could even add a box score! By the way, let's assume Galloway and Liggins will be wearing the Blue and White. My prediction is (get this!) - 27-4 (losses to UNC, at Tennessee, at Arkansas and Miss. St. at home) and 13-3 in the SEC. Bold, bold, bold! I think I'm taking risks assuming Miami and UL wins, a sweep of Florida, and believing we'll roll over the SEC. I also think assuming we'll win all but one of our non-conference games is a stretch considering the new point guard, but we're playing with a big team that can run (and apparently really fast.) I'm not sure that people really know how big and quick of a team we'll be. So there it is, have a go!

27-4?!?!? That's more than bold, that's just plain crazy IMO! :icon_surprised: See my predictions below.

Defense is a concern for me early. But they play like most BCG teams in their 2nd year and go 25-9 with an SEC tournament title and a 4 seed in the dance.

I'm sorry but the majority of the guys that have posted above me are being wayyyyy to negative. It seems to me like you have UK losingg EVERY SINGLE game that might be a little challenging. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY WE LOSE TO MIAMI IN RUPP!! I agree more with the original poster, accept I'm going to give us 5 losses. Remember Gillispie's teams always have a drastic improvemnt in the second year. If you look below, you will see my wins and losses.
Oh btw sorry JFThorn, but theres also no way we lose to MSU in Rupp. They havent beaten us in RUPP since Pitino as far as I know.

I cannot foresee us winning all of the games with UNC, UofL, West Virginia (if we play them), Tennessee, Florida. Just with those teams alone, I see five losses. We may split with Fla or Tennessee combined. That is anywhere from four to seven losses, but I will stick with five. If we have everyone healthy and eligible, and we get overlooked by an overconfident and lazy UNC or UofL team, perhaps with an injury or two on their roster, we could upset one of those teams.
We will lose a couple of SEC games on the road in close fashion that we would normally win if they were home games.
We could very easily lose to Arkansas and Vandy once.
We will probably lose 2nd or 3rd round in the NCAA tourney.
There is almost always a personnel issue with injuries, elegibility, or disciplinary actions, that can impact a game to become a loss, that otherwise on paper we should win.
There is always a game or two that we play terribly and the other team shoots lights out. Our past great teams (see 1996 or 2003) could pull these out as Ws, but we are not deep enough this year to do so.
If everyone is eligible, stays healthy, and goes to class (or doesn't fall asleep at film sessions, etc.) then I say we could get away with eight losses.
There will be a game or two that due to temporary injury, academics, or disciplinary issues, we will be short a guy or two that we need, and will likely lose a game we should or could win.
I say we lose 10 games with 24 or 25 wins depending on NCAA draw, Vegas tourney, and exhibition included.
The SEC is not good this year. I see us with about 7 losses, which would be a good year.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure most of the predictions here are impossible, given that if we win the WV/Iowa game, we will play another game in Vegas, giving us 32 games on the reg season instead of 31.
Under that scenario, I'm saying we go 26-6 with us losing @unc, 1 in vegas, @lou, @ut, @ark, and @uf. We WILL NOT lose at Rupp this year. We'll get the bye in the sec tourney, win 3 games in Tampa for our 26th sec tourney title, earn a 4 seed in the dance, and reach at least the sweet sixteen. So on the year we go 31-7, maybe 32-7 if we can reach the elite eight. BTW, we will finish the season with 1997 all-time wins, remaining approx. 9 games ahead of unc, and will easily become the first team to 2000 wins in the fall of year 2009, by laying the smack down on, you guessed it....north carolina in Rupp Arena !
don't say I didn't warn you !

Sounds nice, but no way, IMO, is this happening. 32-7??? Come on, we need to be realistic in our expectations. That is the kind of talk that make's people say UK fans are crazy. We lose two of our three best players and we are going to improve by 14 wins, that's completely crazy!

Each team plays four games in the Invitational. The tournament ends with the WV/Iowa game on the 29th which means there are 31 regular season games.

Of those 34 wins, I predict an SEC season and tourney championship, a beatdown of Louisville, a sweep in Las Vegas, and our Wildcats giving the Tar Heels a little visit down in Chapel Hill to show them what tradition really is.

Love every bit of it!
By my calculations, that would mean we go 31-4 in the regular season. Regarding UNC, a great and somewhat crazy American once said, "You shouldn't underestimate an enemy, but it is just as fatal to overestimate him.”
For those who predict 8+ losses and for everybody, I ask a question: do you think we are incapable of winning every game (as in there are some teams we just can't beat) or is it that you believe we just won't win those games?

Cupcake games (9-1): VMI, Del St, Longwood, Lamar, Tn State, MS vall st, Indiana, App St, Fla Atlantic, Central Michigan (one of these teams trips us)
Top tier teams: (0-2) UNC, UL,
Mid tier teams: (2-1) Kansas St, WV/Iowa, Miami (I say one loss, but could be two)
SEC Home: (7-1)
SEC Road: (4-4)
total: 22-9 going into the SEC tourney, then 2-1 in the tourney
NCAA as a 6 seed with a 24-10 record

25-5 in sweet sixteen.
i'm feelin' that too JCR Jr. - i'm hopin' for at least a single digit loss season myself and a sweet 16 would be awesome, but i prefer to set my sights for at least an elite 8 (hopefully).....this one/two and done in the tourney is for the birds and needs to stop....
DON'T GO NEGATIVE, GO CATS!

You might be right but until last year it pretty much never ever happened. Maybe once a decade.

Instead of game-by-game, I do my prediction in groups:

Pretty good prediction, much more reasonable then the crazy nonsense of 31-5 or 32-4 or 30-6 that is completely unrealistic.

I don't think a prediction based on expectations is nonsense at all. To me, nonsense is saying "one of those cupcakes will trip us up". That's such a vauge statement. You're looking at somebody's final tally and calling it nonsense, but I ask again, which win that I predicted do you think is nonsense?????? I'm almost begging you to please answer that question.
Has it occured to you that we have a slightly easier non-conf schedule than usual, and that the sec is a little down from the last few years? The list of sec teams that will be better than last year is pretty short, and the league wasn't even all that good last year. That's the main thing contributing to these predictions that you call nonsense: our schedule. There's more to it than just looking at our team and then throwing out win and loss numbers.

Wow, 40-0, and I thought I was optimistic !
in my opinion, our toughest tests, outside of unc and ul, will be @uf on their senior day, @ut, and our second game in vegas after playing at midnight the night before. but even those games will be very winnable assuming we have a full, healthy team.

That's right. There is not a single game on the schedule that we can't win.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure most of the predictions here are impossible, given that if we win the WV/Iowa game, we will play another game in Vegas, giving us 32 games on the reg season instead of 31.
Uh, it's merely a 2-day event.

Yeah, somebody already corrected me. But I was thrown off by this quote from the article about our sched from ukathletics.com
"This season, 13 of Kentucky’s 31 regular-season games will be on CBS, ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU including eight of the Cats’ 16 SEC contests. UK could pick up a 14th nationally televised contest should the team advance to the championship game in Vegas."
I thought that meant there would be a champ. game on sunday, but I guess it means theres a champ game and a consolation on sat, and only the champ game is on national tv ?
