The final was 11-10. I guess that O-boro had no pitching left. They held on by their finger nails.

Ill outhit KY 14-13 most of those hits came in the last 2 innings. Either the coach is nuts or he was out of innings.

I would have to think the coach was out of innings. Ill really started teeing off the the KY pitcher.Back to back yearsfor a team from Owensboro.

Little League is so stringent on the rules about how many innings a young man can pitch, I guess he was just down to one guy. Gotta hand it to the kid, he sucked it up and got the strikeout when he needed it most.

Man, Owensboro is becoming a mecca for the Little League, isn't it?

I am glad they are stringent about that. At that age it would be real easy to "waste" a kid's arm. I have to hand it to the kids from ILL. They never gave up. I love Little League Baseball. I think I watch more of it every year than MLB.

On another note, the Valley Sports girls softball team is also playing in thesoftball world series. I don't think the games are televised, at least I haven't seen them, but they play the Philipines tonight at 8PM.

Little League is "restricting" its way out of any importance. It did it to softball several years ago and baseball is that way now too. AAU/Travel baseball and softball have rendered Little League nearly a Rec League. I know that the O-Boro team from last year was an AAU team when it didn't conflict with Little League. At this age groups many still stay in LL to have a shot at playing on ESPN. They toughen up by playing AAU tournaments with50' - 70' and major league lead-off/stealing basesrules and then come back to 47' - 60' LL rulesin an attempt to play on TV.

Remember the Valley Sports team from a few years ago. I heard people in AAU ball at that age who said that VS was not really that good. I thought that was just sour grapes....I've seen it myself now. The ILL and O-Boro teams are good but I've seen a couple 12U AAU teams that would kill them.

I agree, as those kids have a love for the game, that isn't corrupted by money, imo. I WILL NOT watch MLB, matter of fact I loath it.

Has anyone heard an answer as to why the Kentucky coach left his pitcher in to quite nearly suffer a humiliating and lasting defeat?

I don't care if he was out of innings. All those kids are All-Stars - there's bound to be someone else that can pitch.

Terrible to do that to a kid.

When does the Kentucky team play in LLWS? I will try to watch it.

As usual, the Dr. is correct.

Just got back from the Dizzy Dean World Series (played in Moody, AL - nice people). Seventy foot basepaths and 250' fences. Kids were HUGE. One team looked like LSU's defense.

Would kill any LL team I've seen so far.

But I do love the spectacle of the LLWS (and don't you know the kids love those 200' fences).

There is a lot I don't know about but Little League Baseball aint one of them. Was that too many negaitives to make sense?

I don't know what some of these kids are eating but I've seen more 5'10" 12 yo's than I thought possible in both AAU Basketball and Baseball.

The IL team had a lot of normal sized 12's. I think they had one big kid where many of the good AAU teams have 5 or 6. The 63 MPH fastballs would all be flying out of the yard in a quality AAU tourney. The AK vs LA game that ESPN had on showed a big kid pitcher with 72 mph stuff. Now that is what I'm talking about. There are 2 or 3 teams in Louisville alone with a couple kids on each team doing that. But they only play AAU ball. They played earlier in their careers at Valley Sports, J-Town, etc..... and left to go the "better" AAU route. The LL programs in town are being forced to cooperate with AAU or simply to have leagues filled with what I call "butterfly catchers."

I have no doubt that the O-Boro team is a nice AAU team when they don't play LL but I bet they have a few kids that they add to the roster who are better.
