A championship game between two teams made up of stars from the United States took place Sunday here at the Nike Global Challenge. But in perhaps bigger news, John Wall commented on his highly scrutinized recruitment.

Wall, Rivals.com's No. 1 ranked prospect in the class of 2009, acknowledged that Baylor's hiring of his travel team coach Dwon Clifton, "Gives Baylor an edge because Coach Clifton has helped me a lot," Wall said. However, it is by no means a done deal for the Bears.

Wall plans to take a few official visits before making a decision on where he will attend college.

"I don't have a timetable for making a decision," Wall said. "I'm going to take my official visits. If I find the right fit on a visit, then I'll commit."

As to what schools he would like to visit, Wall listed Memphis, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Kansas and Kentucky.

Other recruiting

• Daniel Orton is down to six schools — Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Kansas, Ohio State and Kentucky. The Wildcats are his early favorite. "I'm really interested in Kentucky and their program," said Orton. "I've known the coaches for a long time. Coach (Billy) Gillispie recruited my brother, and (Assistant) Coach (Glynn) Cyprien coached him at Oklahoma State."

When is Orton going to decide? He keeps confusing me.

Q&A with John Wall (http://www.highschoolhoop.com/?p=374)
From the Nike Global Challenge 2008

HSH: What’s the latest on your college decision?
JW: I’ve got Memphis, Oregon, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kentucky and Baylor. Those are basically my last schools.

John Wall, the 6-foot-3 star point guard for the Raleigh Word of God basketball team, said lots of people have congratulated him on making his college decision after Baylor University hired his summer-team coach.

The problem is that Wall -- whom Rivals.com ranks the nation's No. 1 prospect in the high school class of 2009 -- hasn't yet made a college decision.
"I'm wide open," Wall said Monday.

Still, he said Baylor, Memphis, Kansas, Kentucky, Oregon, N.C. State and Oklahoma State were the schools that were recruiting him the hardest.

He moved into the Broughton district before his junior year but transferred to Word of God after being cut during the Caps' basketball tryouts.
