This has probably already been posted here. If so, OK to delete. First I have seen of it though and worth another look for those that have. Seeing this it is no wonder that he is under consideration for the QB job. :)

Thanks.
Well we've had the Hefty Lefty. Maybe he's the Shifty Lefty or Nifty Lefty or the Crafty Lefty.
Sure seems shifty but doesn't seem to possess breakaway speed. That's OK.

Wow! Mr. Cobb is indeed "shifty." :) Too, he also has an arm. I think we can see why he may see some action at the quarterback position (although he may eventually end up at wide receiver for his future, (because of his height --and may Morgan Newton read that ;)). Thanks, freethrow.

I have long wanted a dual threat QB. I don't know about the future, but for this year I believe we will be better served going with this type of field general. That isn't a knock on Hartline as I hope he does well for us and he isn't slow by any stretch. At least we know he will see a lot of snaps wether its at Qb or Wr. I am just really excited about what I think Cobb can bring to the table for this year. You have a special talent when as a Freshman the coaches are changing their tune about you and an offensive guru like Joker seems to gush about you when asked.

He is certainly nifty and shifty and has decent speed. He is a very talented athlete but after watching the video, I am not sure he has the arm strength to get it down field. Perhaps, that was just the scheme of the offense though, who knows. I am also a little worried about his height at QB, he will at least need to be able to see over the linemens heads. However, I am very glad he is a CAT and he will be an asset no matter which position he finds himself at. I for one believe he would make an excellent receiver, imo.:thumbup: for COBB!!!

For those that think Cobb has no arm strength better think again. That video doesn't really show his deep ball. Trust me, he can throw it as far as it needs to be thrown and it will have plenty zip on it. I was at the scrimmage today and Cobb got most of the snaps with the first team at wr and qb and some with the second. When he was at QB the chains moved. He drove the team inside the redzone 3 times and 2 of 3 field goals where made. Cobb just seems to bring a spark to the offense when he's out there. #1 looked ok at times but Hartline didn't have a good day. Cobb will be on the field sooner than most of you think based on what I saw today.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but you might want to read this account of yesterday's scrimmage. Hartline has a sore shoulder.

I haven't read yet about the scrimmage, but lots of quarterbacks get sore shoulders this time of year. Bret Farve had one yesterday.

My reply was in response to alcOaWildCaT18's comment about Hartline not looking good Sat. A qb's throwing arm being attached to a sore shoulder would have to affect one's performance I would think.

Arm strength, agility, decision making, and leadership are all positives for this kid. There is alot of untapped potential in this kid due to the type of football played down here in TN. When he gets used to the system that Joker is running, you will see that he is exactly what they are looking for. I just hope they don't change the package much from last year to include more QB running plays. I think if they stick with the package, he can make some huge plays with his legs on the scramble as opposed to them calling his number to run it. If he gets on the field at QB during the season I don't think he will ever come off of it. Especially if another receiver steps up. Sorry Hartline, but this kid is as much of a star as Pulley would have been with a better head on his shoulders.

Thanks for the great video, I haven't seen to many Cobb highlights and that was just amazing. I think that UK is really going to blessed with some great QBs these next few years. Hartline has promise and I love the poise of Cobb and Mason in their HS highlights, if they learn to perform at this level they can be special. Say nothing about the fact that we might have 2 amazing recruits in Mossokowski and Newton very soon, no matter what the QB position is in great hands for the next several seasons I think.

If you think about it, UK has had good or great quarterbacks for almost the whole time since Tim Couch became a starter in 1997. I still pinch myself sometimes when I think about how many great plays I've seen by a UK QB since then. Between Hartline and Cobb, it looks like that streak won't be broken.
