Any one have some suggestions on parking for the UofL game?
Will we be able to park at the fair ground?

There are several places around PJCS where you can park. They also run shuttle busses from the fairgrounds and a couple of other places.

I park in a Churchill Downs lot. Free parking and not a bad walk.

Both suggestions are spot on. Unless you're familiar with the area, I personally think the fairgrounds is the best option. Easy access, in and out. Churchill Downs is okay, but you may have to deal with a bit more traffic. I'm not sure what kind of traffic patterns they have.

Does anyone know for sure what section the UK fans will be in?? I heard 217-219 and the lower 100's but before I buy my tickets I want to be sure, and I've love to tailgate with the WCN crew so let me know please thanks.:icon_biggrin:

Here's our route: Watterson Expressway (I-264) west to Taylor Blvd. exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp. Approximately 1 mile to Central Avenue. Turn right. When you see the Twin Spires and the big parking lot in front of the main gate and Derby Museum, you're there (Churchill Downs)!

There's about a 1 or 2 furlong walk up Central Avenue to the Pizza Bowl, and your're there.

Though I'm still not sure why one would want to give any $$$ to those people.

I wouldn't park at the fairgrounds for anything. We had beer bottles thrown at us before. Its redneck central.

Churchill Downs is the place to be. Its free and generally void of UL fans. It's not much further than the fairgrounds and if you do it right, the traffic is much easier.

I've heard Lachlan McClain (WHAS) mention that an Ironman contest is being held that day that could have major traffic implications.

Oh, that's easy......

Just drive until you smell it.

Then, walk toward it until you step in it.

There are several places around the stadium that you can pay to park as well and they are pretty cheap.

I am willing to bet that the fans are going to be in rare form this year after getting beat last year and having a let down year. The fans are going to be out for blood. It will be interesting as long as I can keep my brother from getting beat up I am doing pretty well. LOL

I have heard that about the fairgrounds and it stands to reason because they allow people in there a lot earlier so they have plenty of time to get all boozed up and liquid corrage will be plentiful that day.

So is it a consensus that Churchill is the closest and safest place to park ?

I've never parked anyplace else so Churchill is my only frame of reference. It's always been free, we've never had a problem getting in or out, our vehicle has never been vandalized, and we've not experienced any ugliness by the UL fans until you get to the lot next to the stadium.
