Not my opinion but here is one guys take.

John Wall? No Thanks (http://www.rockchalktalk.com/2008/8/21/598078/john-wall-no-thanks).
http://assets.sbnation.com:/profile_images/13227/RockChalkTalk_tiny.gif by rockchalk (http://www.rockchalktalk.com/users/rockchalk) on Aug 21, 2008 2:55 AM CDT (http://www.rockchalktalk.com/2008/8/21/598078/john-wall-no-thanks) in Basketball (http://www.rockchalktalk.com/section/Basketball)

Looking at that list, you see Kansas and Kentucky. And Memphis. And, a lot of second-and-third tier programs, not the type that are usually in on these high-profile kids these late. Not to say that lack of interest from some premier programs should prohibit us from recruiting him. But it doesn't send a great message, especially as the reigning National Champion. Every other school on his 'final' list can afford to take on a player with questionable character with Wall's talent. And that is just what Wall is; a player with questionable character.

Rest of his blog here (http://www.rockchalktalk.com/2008/8/21/598078/john-wall-no-thanks).

Interesting opinion....one similar to others I have heard. The kid is super talented but comes with the Mayo, Beasley type problems (potentially). Not sure exactly where I stand with this kid. Would absolutely love to have someone with his talent at UK, but I hope they really investigate his past and who he has dealt with agent wise.

I'm probably overlooking something pretty obvious, but what were the problems with Beasley? I can't recall anything off the top of my head...

He had major character and behavioral issues in high school, and he bailed on UNC-Charlotte after K State and dirtball Huggins hired his buddy as a coach.

I guess you're unaware of Billy G. hiring Tracy Webster as a coach so we could get Darius Miller.

Billy G. hired Tracy Webster because he's a tireless recruiter and knows the Illinois area well. Besides, we may have gotten Darius Miller anyway.

I agree. Let's give Tracy more credit than that. Webster has the credentials to be at UK. It's not like we hired Miller's AAU coach, or high school coach, as we did with Magliore. Webster will be a hot commodity for a head coaching job in the near future.

lmao ya right. don't tell me you actually believe that? i know he's a great recruiter, but the reason he hired him was for Darius Miller and everyone knows it. It's pretty funny that some people on here think everyone else is dirty when they hire someone to get a recruit, but when UK does it, it has nothing to do with the recruit lol.

Pretty funny that everyone recruits 7th graders and no one cares but when KY does it.......

Enough said.

lmao - you apparently don't kow much about Tracy Webster.

BTW, you might want to look in the mirror. Your aggenda is showing.

What the heck is that supposed to mean? I love that we got Billy G. as a coach and Webster as part of the staff. I know Webster is a heck of recruiter. I'm just freakin saying that some of you need to act like you have some dang sense! Billy G. hired Webster because he knew it would more than likely land us Miller. That's why he committed to us shortly after we hired him and everything i had read pretty much predicted that was going to happen. I see nothing wrong with it. I'm all for it, but it's pretty stupid to say that everyone one else is dirty for doing it and that we don't do it at all lol. How dumb.

I also think it's a bunch of 'BS' to that they do that kind of stuff to KY. Like when Dicky V. knocked the recruiting of kids that young when we got a verbal from Michael Avery, but praised Billy Donovan when he did it.

I think you are completely wrong on this one. If I'm not mistaken, Billy G had worked with Webster in the past. He's not some friend or agent of a star player that he hired for a BS job. Also, I like Miller a lot, but you don't hire a guy to get a Miller caliber player. Teams that do that do it to get Mayo, Beasely, Rose, Durant, etc... type players.

I don't KNOW that.....and neither do you......unless coach G. intrusted that information to you. And for the life of me, I can't figure out just why he would do that. :icon_rolleyes: :shrug1:

Before the hiring of Webster we supposedly were going to hire Rashad McCloud if he could bring us Aminu & Woods, but they went to Wake Forest so we didn't hire him. I don't know if that's true or not though. I do agree with you that Miller isn't the kind of player you'd hire just anyone for, but I do believe it played a part in it.

I believe that Webster was instrumental in the verbal commitment given by Dominique Ferguson also.

Bigblue23 I would like to apologize for the post I made yesterday. I didn't agree with what you said and may have you confused for someone else. I also apologize to the original poster for hijacking this thread.

In my eyes, and after reading this article on espn...there's no way we are getting this kid. Although, I hope I'm wrong.
