Is there a link? That would be amazing if we signed one more for 08!

It's on KSR now. His stats from his freshman year are unimpressive. 41% free throw shooter.

They're looking for big bodies for practice, IMO.
^^^ That is exactly what I was thinking. Throw some big guys at PPat turn him into even more of a beast.

This would truly be nuts. We have a chance for an unreal 09 recruiting haul with just limited schollies as is. Why not hold for that.
Hopefully, this does not happen. Just go with what we got in 08, IMO.

I tend to agree with you Bob but I trust the staff. I just think we have a good chance to round out the 09 class with Orton and Boyd and that would be one heck of a class IMO.

Yes i agree too! Save the schollies for the 09 studs.

Doubt it will happen, anyway, but this kid might be a walk-on. Who knows?

I think Gillispie's looking at our almost shameful thinness in the middle next season and getting a bit worried.
We've got five interior players. Five. One of them (Stewart) is a tweener; one (Carter) is an injury prone seven footer who's never seen much action; a third (Harrelson) is a JUCO transfer who's never played one minute of D1 basketball. It might be Stevenson and Patterson battling every practice against one another.
Aside from that, we have no--zero--bulk outside of Josh Harrelson.
And you would have to think if this happens it'll be as a walk-on. You don't give Division III transfers scholarships at Kentucky; it'd be unheard of. If that were the case, and you could get a 6'8" kid to walk-on who has some NCAA experience, you'd almost have to take him.

A walk on I could see for sure. A schollie? Not so thrilled about it. What I am reading is that none of this is likely to happen anyway.
Will...
You are forgetting Matt Pilgrim who is supposedly tearing it up in summer games with his big body. He can practice and not play.

You're right, Bob. I'd forgotten about him.

The only thing I can think of is that this kid is a good friend of another player we are recruiting and sort of a package deal? If he's just looking for big bodies, there are plenty of local DIII players that would jump at the chance to play at UK. I'm hoping there is an ulterior motive.

I don't know. I've seen a lot of Division III and NAIA basketball, and that's a really big kid for that level.
Still be totally shocked if this is anything more than a preferred walk-on type of situation.
