I went over to the wake for David last night. As I expected the gathering was more about the remembering the good times and the crazy man we all loved.
An interesting story: David took care of people you don't even hear about. One young lady was thankful to David for covering the costs of her books for four years at Radford. No reason other than she was in need.
He was also widely known as one of the craziest men living on Smith Mountain Lake. I say "one of" because several men at his wake were trying to stake claim to the title now that David gave it up.
One last time I lift a glass of Makers for David and his widow Margie.
