No stupid questions........right???

This may be the stupidest (my new word) question EVER, but I can't find anybody who knows the answer. I have noticed on ALL the collegiate games, the players have a black circle with the letters GU in them somewhere on their uniforms. It has been painted on the field as well. I'm watchin the Dallas\Philly game (at the half, a GREAT game so far) and I notice the GU on the back of their helmets. WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT????? This is driving me insane trying to figure this out. PLEASE HELP!!! I'm sure it's in remembrance of a fallen player or an injured player, but who, and why aren't the announcers going into detail about this. Thanks in advance!!!

I dont think they are doing it in college but the pros are doing in memory of Gene Upshaw who passed away two weeks ago.

I noticed it the first week of play. I thought I saw it first in the college games, I'm prolly mistaken:shrug1:, but I do watch more college futball than pro. I noticed it on the field at first, then last night on the helmets.
