Three episodes in - what do you think?
I'm diggin it so far. With so many vampire books, TV shows, and movies already made, it should be more difficult to add anything new, original, or creative to the mythology, but I think HBO has managed it.

Anyone read the books?

I did some digging, and the vampire elder named "Eric" will be played by the same actor who portrayed "Ice Man" in the recently-aired "Generation Kill". His full character name is Eric Northman, and the actor is Scandanavian, so I'm assuming that he is an ancient Viking vampire? I might have to read these books myself.

I wasn't too excited about a vampire show. Like you said, the topic has been well covered. However, I am a fan of most HBO shows, so i gave it a try. I must say i'm impressed. I will definitely watch the rest of the series. I just hope it doesn't get cancelled after 1 season like John from Cincinnati.

I was hesitant to give it a chance because of the glut of vampire TV, books, etc... But I was pleasantly surprised when I did. HBO has a pretty good track record, I should've had faith in them.

The way they are reinventing the vampire mythology is great stuff. And it doesn't hurt that Anna Paquin is smokin hot.

Yep, good stuff. I'm surprised by how much I've liked it so far.

I saw an interview with the producer or director...and he made a point to watch all the vampire movies/shows just so he wouldnt use any of the cheesy cliches that come with vampires.

I really like this show. Not usually into the vampire stuff, but this has a different feel to it. So far, so good...and yes Anna Paquin is hot, but how did they get that gap in her teeth?
