Jon Katz and Izzy comfort the dying (http://www.slate.com/id/2199604)

This writer has that uncanny ability to leave you laughing out loud or sobbing under your breath with a mere turn-of-phrase. I've been following the (mis)adventures of Katz and his merry band of pets for a couple of years now, as has Jeff Craddock, and trust me when I say that not only is this a great read, but you really should utilize the "search" feature and read ALL his entries on Slate.com if you have time to kill.

Ugh, I'm now a sobbing, sniffling mess...thanks. :icon_cry: :icon_lol: Dogs are the absolute best, aren't they?!

I had a customer who would come into my bank and bring his different dogs, mainly Goldens, with him every once in awhile. He had a couple of drug sniffing dogs that he was training, along with dogs that he took to hospitals to play with kids and the elderly.

They were the best dogs ever, never heard a peep out of them, always we're playing around with the kids of our customers. I can't imagine the smiles they brought to peoples faces who we're sick in the hospital, but I saw the faces of the kids and even some of the employees when he brought them in.

Great read. I only wish the story would have gone on. Dog's that are raised right are so much more than most realize, aren't they. Izzy seems like a Dog I would very much like to meet.

Wonderful stuff, Kenny. Of our three Goldens, Keira is the best candidate for becoming some kind of therapy dog. She's almost ridiculously calm, learns easily, nothing seems to rattle her, and she's a natural people magnet.
