This fall is the 30 year mark of the first World Series I can remember. What a Series it was as I was a awe struck 8 year old who couldn't get enough of the game action. I watched every game including game six with the Fisk epic homerun. I talked my father into one last inning before bed and lo and behold Fisk delivered with his shot for the ages. I can still here Curt Gowdy calling the games.............wow 30 years sure goes fast.

Yes it sure does make you feel old. I was twelvethen. It was the first of three World Series Championships I have watched the Reds win. The first one is always the most special. This is still one of the best World Series ever played. You went from a high one minute to a new low the next. My neice was born the day after the Reds won the series. Now she is married and has a baby of her own. Time does fly by.

True as I can remember the feel of the first game of that World Series. I can still see the Ed Armbriester controversial play. Plus remember the long build up to that game six as it had rained for 3 days before the game.

I was 4 but I vaguely remeber it.Back then I was a Reds fan cause my parents were, now I follow them loyaly.I've seen a lot of WS's since then but the one I remember most clearly is the 1990 following the wire to wire season.
Back to yours their is a whole generation my age and younger that probably thought that the Red Sox won that year.

The media would like you to believe the Red Sox won it becasue of Fisk game winning homer in game six. I always like to say the Red Sox won that battle but the Reds won the war!:D
Last winter the New England Sports Network(NESN) aired every game of that World Series. I taped game seven to keep. I could kick myself for not getting every game. I hope they may do this again. They also aired the 1986 and 2004 WS.

When the Reds played in Boston earlier this year Steve Stewart interviewed Carlton Fisk.Fisk said in this interview in New England we all know who won that World Series.Steve Stewart was quick to come back with,oh you mean the Reds.Fisk was a great player but in that interview he was overly smug and even insinuated that he was the better catcher than Johnny Bench.

My first hero was Joltin' Joe DiMaggio. Now there was a ball player. Someday, I'll tell you about him.
