Paul Newman passed away after a battle with cancer. His performance in Cool Hand Luke was one of the best.

Though we knew it was coming, his passing is still hard to take for anyone who grew up in that era.. He was one of the good ones, both in his professional and personal life. And so handsome when he was young. Well done, Paul. You will be missed.

One of his lists of movies shows Mel Brooks' "Silent Movie". Is that right?

Either way, he will be badly missed. There will never be another Newman, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, etc.

Although way before my time Newman and McQueen are two legends from that area. Made any film enjoyable.

"Cool Hand Luke" Greatest Movie of All Time. Paul Newman personified the saying "There are no small parts, only small actors."

The Hustler and The Verdict are his two greatest performances, IMHO.

All the truly great actors are leaving us one by one.

RIP

Cool Hand Luke is one of my all time favorites and his best role, imho. He was pretty good in The Sting as well.

Jack Nicholson is still my favorite actor, who can carry a movie on his performance alone.

RIP, Mr. Newman.

My four favorite Newman films:

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - (Are you crazy? The fall will probably kill you.)

Cool Hand Luke - (Nah - calling it your job don't make it right, Boss.)

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - (People like doing what they used to do, after they've stopped being able to do it.)

The Long Hot Summer - (Well, my family moved. Not that they wanted to. They was encouraged by the local citizens.)
