So if Louisville is Little Brother ... what is Western? Baby Brother or Little Sister?

Distant cousin. Very distant. Like wouldn't get invited to the family reunion distant.

Why?

Why?
Because no WKU fans have been on our board flapping their jaws about how good they are.

well lets see.......I hate Loserville and I cheer for the other team no matter who they play........I am a WKU fan because my daughter goes to school there...is that enough reasons WHY

:icon_mrgreen: I have to agree with you here. David Magley and Jameson Tipping, 2 of WKU's best basketball players, are great freinds of mine, I like WKU, I have respect for them. However I do not respect loserville.

Just my opinion, but you can't say one state is cool and our friend, and another is evil and all that. Say WKU had been the one to knock us out of the NCAA last year, I doubt amyone would be like " Aw shucks, thats just good old WKU."

Personally I was at the game Saturday and there is absolutely NO WAY that WKU has as many obnoxious fans as UL does. All of the WKU fans I ran across the other day were very nice and pleasent to be around. Where are UL fans in general are some of the worst I have ever seen. Not all but a majority.

The family of Western fans sitting in front of me were all very nice. The little boy started cheering for UK in the third quarter and his dad was joking with me that I'd have to give him a ride home.
I think the difference in perception of WKU fans is that Western is seen as a "little" school whose fans are students and alumni who are busting out proud when their "little" team "swims in a bigger pond" so to speak. It's almost cute.
So I guess that would make WKU more like a nephew than a little brother

Yea you actually can. Because this is a free country and you can cheer for ANYONE you want. Not to mention they have never knocked us out of anything. They beat us once in basketball early in the season but other than that it has been a one sided relationship. That is why you can cheer for them very easily without feeling back about it. Besides the fact that UK and UL have had a heated rivalry for decades and WKU has not been in it. Then add to that the coach of UL being our ex coach who turned on us to coach for our rivals. In fact it is hard not to say they are complete oppisites in many UK fans eyes. Maybe not yours because you like to stur up crap.

You've obviously never heard about the 1971 NCAA basketball tournament. :icon_rolleyes:
Why are people from Louisville so myopic? Just because you live in the "big city" with lots of annoying Louisville fans does not mean that there are not lots of annoying fans of other state schools in other parts of the state. And I don't mean this about just you chworld... I'm discovering that there are lots of people in Louisville like this.

And there are still WKU fans from "little city" Bowling Green, who are envious of both UK and UL. I remember as a freshman at Western when we beat UL in basketball 96-80. We painted the score on the water tower, and the atmosphere was like winning the NC.
You can call people out all you want, but your loyalty to Western, (which is understandable) and your problem with "city folks" shows big time. I'm from a small town in Hopkins County, so I understand some of how you feel. I just happen to live in Louisville now.

I'm going to post one last time in this thread, then I'm done.
Point #1 -- I don't have ANY loyalty to Western. In fact, I really don't like their envious fans who constantly demean my alma mater - UK. I grew up in eastern Kentucky, went to college for years at UK and then moved here to Bowling Green when I got a job here. I wanted to like UK and WKU, but found that really wasn't an option because all the jackass WKU fans here who hate everything about UK.
Point #2 -- I get it that UK fans in Louisville dislike UofL more because they have to deal with jackass UofL fans a lot. I don't personally know any UofL fans like that, but I am smart enough to realize that they are out there - especially in Louisville. I just wish Louisville folks were able to recognize the fact that outside of their metro area, there are jackass fans of schools like WKU just like there are UofL.
Dang.

MY point I was trying to make is I live in Louiville so I deal with them everyday and trust me they are bad..

You obviously never have heard about the game every single year that we play against UL in football and Basketball so we have to hear about their endless pile of crap in "the big city." By the way I know you didn't mean me exclusively but why are you so quick to sterotype an entire city and fans from there? Just because you are not from there? I have been to MANY cities and many away games and I am well aware of the fact that there are bad fans from other universities. LSU, UT, Bama, UF, and Auburn, Vandy, and Ole Miss ALL have bad fans and I have seen first hand. My father is a WKU grad and a fan. I had four or five at my tailgate for the game. I am sure that they have their fair share of terrible fans but sorry I am not in the boat that would put them with the likes of UL fans. My opinion and I am intitled to it just like you yours and TCB hers.
You know what I started typing before I read your last one and I all I have to say is there are bad fans in EVERY school so you can choose to like them or not. I choose to dislike UL not hate but I dislike them. WKU I could care less about either way. Eastern is a good place to party other than that I have no use for the town or the school. What I have a problem with is someone trying to convince me that there are bad WKU fans. I am not a moron thanks I am getting a degree at UK I realize that my micro universe is not all there is. I just choose to like WKU more than UL.

I will say this. I don't live in Louisville and honestly the only interaction I've had with them is on the forums. I've just always been around Kentucky fans.
My Grandfather is a Louisville fan (if only to give the grand kids a hard time! HAH!) and our Associate Pastor is as well, who couldn't be nicer. He was telling me some stories about UK fans that just had me shaking my head. We both agreed that all teams have those kind of fans. Every single school.
Honestly, if we had a bunch of WKU fans on here talking trash like the Louisville fans do (or did, we don't see them much anymore), then most UK fans would probably feel the same as they do about Card fans.
I think, in the end, it's just the size of the school that makes the difference. If WKU was the size of Louisville, and Louisville was the size of WKU, we would probably dislike WKU just like we do Louisville. This is just what I think, anyway.

You are right! That has to do with a competition thing. We have a competition with UL for the most part UL is competitive with us in every sport at least every other year. WKU just isn't on a regular basis. They might have envy and that is understandable but I didn't have ONE WKU fan anything to me during that game last week and that is not the case when the UL rolls around. Personally I have to go with the experiences that I have. I don't just go around not liking people because they are WVU fans because I hear they are bad.

And that's all we really can go on is our personal experiences. So far, my experiences with Louisville fans in person have been mostly positive, so I can only base my opinion off of that. The same goes with WKU and EKU. My sister went there as well as most of her friends. The only negative I have on that school is that most of our graduating class went there and I didn't get along with them too well, so I naturally base some of my opinion of them off of that.
And I'm an EKU student, so naturally I see most people here as being good. However, a few weeks ago against Western when the QB got hurt there was one student who boo'd when he got up. If someone else had heard that from another school, then their overall thought of EKU fans would be negative.
We can only go by what we have personally experienced hands-first. And every situation will be different.
I spoke about the AP of the church being a Louisville fan. Well, one of the other guys there who teaches the college class is a DUKE fan! And there's a guy in my Bible Study who is a Tennessee fan! It's CRAZY! But they are some of the nicest people. It's still fun to give them a hard time, for sure, but they are good people to be around.

No doubt. I have three best friends that are all UL fans. There are good and bad fans for every school. I have heard Duke fans are bad but I personally have never had a problem with them (although I still don't like the school for obvious reasons). I have had numerous problems with UL fans but I still treat them individually.
I'd call them adopted...

Well here I go, I'm a sucker for punishment, but at this point I have to say this. The UK fans in Louisville act like the Cards fans are so rough on them. This I'm sure is true, BUT, you are in LOUISVILLE! I get that UK is the state school but come on, if you lived in Raliegh and you were a UNC fan would you honestly not expect to get grief?

for a few days, I'll throw my nickel's worth in there just to spice things up a bit. ;)
Rather than get into this debate about who has the most obnoxious fans (other than I think it's kind of comical that one of the schools in question calls it bickering when time and time again they've engaged in similar pointless debates and called their side of the argument "being realistic'), I'm going to offer this observation:
If I were a WKU fan, I would have gone into the game against UK hoping for, if not an unexpected victory, at least an respectable showing, but all I got to show for it was an field goal on the opening drive and then the 'Toppers were basically never seen again, so I would be very upset and prone to making some backhanded insults toward the 'Cats, so the sour grapes bit doesn't really surprise me or bother me.
However, If I were a WKU fan, I would at least be able to take some solace in the following facts:
The Hilltopper offense, however anemic, WAS, at least, able to mount ONE scoring drive in which they were able to kick a field goal, totalling 3 points.
The 'Toppers had a total net rushing yardage of 142. The Wildcats' only other in state opponent this season rushed for a total net yardage of 53.
The Wildcats' only other in state opponent this season didn't score a single point on offense and it was only a botched play that allowed the safety, resulting in only 2 points on their side of the ledger. (There's also the little matter that one of UK's lineman, on one play, gained more rushing yardage than the other guys' starting backfield did for the entire game (yeah, Surveyor, I know what you're thinking..don't go there..) but we'll leave that one alone. :icon_mrgreen:
So, when you do the math, WKU scored one more point against UK than that other Big East Conference school in Louisville.
So, the numbers don't lie. By virtue of it's better showing against UK, WKU can now lay claim to being Number TWO in the state of Kentucky in college football! ROFL!
Okay, I've stirred up the pot enough. You Card fans make any rebuttle you like, but don't bother trying to goad me into anything further. I'm done.
You all have fun. I'm outta here....:icon_mrgreen:
