Yesterday my car muffler detached and is currently hanging about an inch from the ground. There's a Midas a couple blocks from my apartment, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way I could rig up the muffler so I could drive there without being a danger to myself or others? I was thinking duct tape, but will it hold?

YOu might want to try and just break it off yourself. They are going to take it off anyway. If you can't,duct tape will probably hold for a couple of blocks.

Had it happen to me before. The good old Coat Hanger trick works great. As long as you have something to secure it to in a decent location near the muffler that is. Just a good pair of pliers and a little muscle is all it takes. :)

The duct tape will probably burn off. The coat hanger suggestion is a good one.

Thanks guys. I actually made it over with the duct tape (I used a lot). I was worried about it burning off but it worked for the time being. The coat hanger idea would have been good, but I'm cheap and only own plastic hangers :icon_lol:

yes, coat hanger....make sure it's metal though not plastic....that'll do ya no good...it'll just get hot and melt off....they don't form near as good neither.....

know why they don't send donkeys to college? cuz nobody likes a smart....well you probably know the rest....

having muffler problems on my lawn mower too it's in the shop now....dang thing fell off and it sounded like a harley going down the road....didn't know a lawn mower could be that frikkin loud man....

something's just always gotta break doesn't it.....i need to just get a goat and tie him to a cinder block and move it every couple hours....or get a beaver cleaver mower

Large hose clamps work very well. I made it a year and a half with one while I was in school and couldn't afford the repair bill.
