Kentucky has jumped into the mix for one of the rising basketball prospects in the Class of 2010. The Wildcats made contact this week with the AAU coach of four-star Jackson (Tenn.) North Side forward Casey Prather, who has drawn quite an impressive crowd since a strong showing this summer.

Early in his recruitment, 2010 SF Casey Prather has a long list of suitors which includes Kentucky.

2010 four-star prospect Casey Prather (http://kentucky.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=69480) had a litany of head coaches tracking him on Monday. Roy Williams watched both of Prather's games, and Billy Donovan, John Calipari, John Beilein, Oliver Purnell and Josh Pastner watched him as well.

I have seen multiple games of this kid and have family in Tennessee who tell me he is the real deal. Great athlete with a great shooters touch. Jon Hood and him both played for the same AAU squad (Celtics) and are good friends. They have talked about playing on the same college team....so hopefully we can welcome Casey Prather next year.

Jody Demling was also in attendance for the beginning of the tournament and he noted that the interest from Kentucky toward Casey Prather (2010) has “picked back up.” I received a lot of reports saying that Coach Cal’s crew were checking in on Prather’s play and this confirms it.

UK back on Prather?

http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/demling/uploaded_images/Casey-Prathermug-732639.jpg (http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/demling/uploaded_images/Casey-Prathermug-732648.jpg) The University of Kentucky appears to be back on Jackson (Tenn.) North Side small forward Casey Prather, who plays for the Nashville Celtics AAU program.

The 6-foot-5 Prather said last week that he has been getting calls from UK assistant coach Orlando Antigua and that his father has talked with John Calipari.

"Yes, sir I believe they are back on me now," Prather said. "I am still wide open, but Kentucky is a big-time program and I like them a lot. My father said coach Calipari liked my game."

Prather had been recruited by UK when Billy Gillispie was the head coach and he said only recently did the Wildcats new staff start showing more interest.

Prather is ranked as the No. 9 small forward in the Class of 2010 (corrected now) by Scout.com and holds offers from a bunch of schools, including Alabama, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Mississippi, Miami (Fla.), Clemson and Georgia. He had a number of head coaches watching his games last week in a Cincinnati AAU event, including Calipari, Florida's Billy Donovan, Memphis' Josh Pastner and North Carolina's Roy Williams.

"It's still a bunch of schools on me," Prather said.

While he didn't list any favorites, Prather does have a UK connection. His former AAU teammate and close friend, Jon Hood, is a freshman with the Wildcats.

"We are real close and I talk to him a lot," Prather said. "He's already talking to me a lot about Kentucky."

Prather has averaged over 25 points and 15 rebounds for two straight seasons.

Casey Prather, a 2010 wing prospect, has narrowed his list of schools to seven: Clemson, Florida, Memphis, Michigan, North Carolina, Vanderbilt and Kentucky. Prather comes from the same AAU foundation as John Hood, the Nashville Celtics. The two remain close friends and Prather has commented on Hood’s efforts to get him in Blue and White. The last time that I talked to Casey he did not yet have an offer from the UK staff.
