:cool: This is probably a stupid question, but how many years of eligibility would he have for football?

Only 1 year. You have 5 years of eligibility with a max of 4 in one sport. I believe I have that right. I know he only has this upcoming season and that's it.

You get a fifth year to play a different sport.

From what I understand, his HS didn't have a football team. By the way, reported that he caught a 53 yarder in heavy coverage. Sure is making some noise out there!

In case those may have forgotten, his brother is walking on the team.

Thanks for the reply CS, WoW, this story needs to be followed. I'm sure RV will have something to say about this in his practice reports.

I think this could be the most exciting season for UK in a long time. Ravi should add a little enthusiasm to this team and convert some strictly bball fans to coming out on saturdays.

A little bit more info I learned today. Ravi is there on a trial basis as both himself and the coaching staff are looking to see if he has a short future in FB. Right now the coaches are high on him. Ravi has about week and half to decide to continue or not. He is wearing the #4 jersey.

Cool. :thumbup

Having an extra pair of hands around never hurt.

I wish him well and don't see any reason why he shouldn't be a success and contribute to the Cats. He is an athlete and has to have good hands. Plus he should be able to take contact and give it out as well.

Once he learns the system, he should be ready to go. :thumbup

Like most others, I was really surprised to see that Ravi is at spring practice. I am surely hopinghe stays. His leadership and enthusiasm alone would be positives. For him and his family, it would especially neat, as his brother is also a walk-on. Again, I hopeRavi stays and is a quick learner! :)

We need to make up our mind about Moss quick & not waste ttme when true players need the practice.

I don't think the coaching staff sees it that way about wasting time. WR position is pretty much in need of some more bodies and the kid is quick learner with the talent to play if he wants.

I believe we have five recruited WR's coming in this season, but we have only Burton (who is still recovering) as the only proven WR for the spring. Dickie and Logan have yet to demonstrate that they can play at the major college level and Burton can't seem to avoid injury for more than a game or two. So with all those frosh and everything else a question mark, 2006 is pretty much critical for receivers. By 2007, our two or three coming in this year whoare good enough toplay at UK will have some experience and we'll have a chance for an outstanding frosh or two next season.

So if Ravi can help, this is definitely the year that we could best use him. But what we need going along with that is for Logan to start catching the ball and for Lyons to get serious and go to work and make some good use of that speed he has.

I'm sorry, but what is your expertise or sourceto say that he has the talent to play? Thanks.

He was invited by the coaching staff to play. They kinda know football. Thanks.

Yep, Coldstream, you are exactly right & I'm off-base. I was running off my mouth w/o enough data - a problem of mine. Please accept my apology. Thanks.

gerntz, I wouldn't worry about wasting time on Moss. For the spring (in which he and the coaches will decide whether he'll stick with football) the only healthy receivers with a real chance to play are Lyons and Logan---neither of which has shown us much yet. We have a bevy of 5 or so WRs coming in this fall, but for the spring, there's very very little to work with. So time devoted to Ravi won't be wasted whether he plays or not.

With all those frosh, we'll need someone(s) to step up and show some WR leadership, etc. Ravi would be worth a fortune in that sense if he accomplished nothing else.
