In the CJ this morning, there was a great quote by South Carolina guard Tarence Kinsey. Here is the quote:

The Gamecocks shot 60 percent, highest of any U of L opponent this season. Guard Tarence Kinsey said they hadn't dunked so much since "our (preseason) Hardwood Hoopla for the fans to come out and see us scrimmage with the girls' team."

He's absolutely right. If you did not see the game you can't begin to understand what a poor defensive effort UL gave last night.

That's a gem! :ggrin:

Of course, it was Pitino who chose to make their NIT bidso high-profile and turn it into a major media event (at least in loserville). All it got himwas a high-profile butt whuppin at the hands of and SEC team! How perfect!!!

Kinsey was right, and you are right, trublue4life. The way South Carolina flew through Louisville's defense was something else! Anyone who did not see the game can indeed not remotely realize how impressive South Carolina was, and, well, you can figure out the rest. :)

You are so right, NC Cat. It was poetic justice. Pitino deserved exactly what he got.

By the way, be sure to read the entire CJ article. Pitino blamed the loss on Louisville's only having two players, naming Dean and Terence Williams, who had talent like South Carolina. He even went on to say that his new recruits, the freshmen, would be the ones playing a lot next season. I cannot imagine putting my returning players' talent down (all players whom he himself recruited, by the way) in that manner. That even surprised me for Pitino. He obviously did not handle being so embarrassed by the SEC's #9 team on national television.

Personally, I also think it was poetic justice because of how Louisville got to New York. Saturday before the pairings came out I had read that Lunardi had projected Louisville as a number four seed in the NIT, which would have given them only one guaranteed home game. Instead, Louisville, a non-bubble team for the NCAA which hadthreatened notto participate inthe NIT, was GIVEN a number seed anda guaranteed total of all three qualifying games at home if they kept winning. Ireally feeljustice was served inSouth Carolina's destroying Louisville as it did. Louisville'srecord away from Freedom Hall, by the way, was2-10, I believe the announcers stated.
