View Full Version : Arkansas Game May Be Tougher Than Thought

With the Hogs upsetting Auburn, Arkansas will be coming into Lexington with some confidence. Kentucky must lick their wounds and get ready for Arkansas.
I think UK will be ok but confidence can be lost so quickly. Hopefully, the players won't read any press clippings (not saying that some won't be deserved) and come out fired up and BBQ the Hogs.
Its a long season and UK has lost two pretty tight games. It was an ugly loss today but I really haven't been too happy with pretty losses either. The CATs will be back next week.

With all of our injuries, we will have to play our best game possible to beat Arkansas. They will have revenge on their minds from last year. Like him or not, Petrino can coach and will have his team thinking they can beat us.

The Hogs are not near as good defensively as the last two clubs we have faced. Unfortunately our offense is regressing. We should win but without an offensive overhaul that maximizes the FEW offensive weapons we possess EVERY game left on our schedule will be a struggle.

Exactly, Rockober. Too, more specifically, as I posted in another thread, Arkansas went into #20 Auburn and not only came out with a solid win on the road, but also more than DOUBLED Auburn's total yardage (over 400 yards to less than 200 yards). The Cats AND us Cat fans had better BE FIRED UP Saturday. GO CATS! BEAT THE HOGS!

If the cat's show up with their head's on straight, play solid (if unspectacular) ball and control the freaky-dink plays (blocked field goals, long punt returns, fumble/ int for touchdown, etc...) they'll win this one.

The Hogs got a few players back and I think their impact was shown in the AU game. But we also must consider other factors as well.
1) It isn't like Auburn has been the offensive cog this year. As a matter of fact, they have more turmoil than anyone in the league on that side of the ball. That has to impact the team as a whole.
2) UK is also getting three ankles back to 100% this week. While all three played last week, none were at 100%. UK did lose two receivers, but also got back Ford. Ford has experience and that is a major plus for the receiving corp.
3) The team had a choice after the tough losses of two games and it defining player. Fight or flight. ALL indications are that they are fighting harder than ever. An even better indication comes in the form of leadership. I think it has been lacking, but some key people have stepped up this week. Michah is taking over and saying some really smart things. yes it is a team game, but each individual must do their job. If one person isn't doing their job, it brings the whole team down. THIS needed to be said. He challenged all the guys to do what it takes to do their job. If it mean more catches from a machine, do it, footwork work, do it, gassers to get better wind, do it.
I think "3" has been the big bugaboo with this team. Lots of great guys. Quite a bit of talent, but the only direction has come from the staff. PLAYERS must take ownership o they will not get better. I think the guys would ALL be surprised at the positive result in just one week of total "all in" dedication.
If they are putting the time and effort in this week, I don't think there would be a question on the outcome Saturday.

Oh, yes, I'm definitely planning on the Cats' getting a WIN! :icon_biggrin: Still, the players and we fans need to be FIRED UP! :icon_biggrin: GO CATS! BEAT THE HOGS!

Excellently stated, UKBOO (and were you at last week's tailgate :shrug1:, as I did not see you?). Specifically, I, too, had been thrilled to read earlier that Micah has stepped up in the area of leadership. :) GO CATS! BEAT HOGS!

No, poodoo, I couldn't make it last week. My daughter is in town this weekend, so we won't be making this one either. I'm trying to see what I can do for the UGA game. I'll specifically let you know if I get that worked out!

An overhaul? I know you want a true frosh QB so he can have something worse than 19 TDs and 22 Ints (JLo was a redshirt frosh), several of which returned for TDs, NO.
NO!
NO!
NO!
NO!
NO!
NO!
Stop it. Please.... I'm beggin'. I've seen teams torn apart - and if you do that here I'm gonna cry. Please don't make me cry. Please don't make me watch a true frosh QB either. I have a strong heart, but.... maybe there is a weak blood vessel in my brain or something. Please don't kill me with an aneurism.
We have lots of offensive weapons and with this defense we have time for the lights to come on.
Every game is always a struggle - it's football - and that is why FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT is repeated so often here at UK.

I know we won, and I'm happy as a clam.
But the offense has regressed.
