He didn't have any better a year than Alford and at least Alford made the Tourny. Everybody was saying Steve didn't get it because he got beat in the first game in the Tournybut where was Oklahoma? Alot of people like him though, they say he will keep players worth keeping in state.

:question
Is there any truth to the "rumor" that Oklahoma is being investigated for recruiting violations? I find that hard to believe with Indiana bringing him in as head coach.

It is true.. 550 EXTRA phone calls to recruits during the "non contact" time (I think) and a T shirt.. yes ladies and Gentleman a Tshirt given to a recruit is a violation.
Im all for fairness but come on... Hey Jo blow recruit what was the deciding factor on Oklahoma? Upstart Program,Big 12 basketball. UHH...THEY GAVEME A T- SHIRT

Yes they are being investigated. I heard this morning on ESPN radio, driving into work, that it was about illegal phone calls to recruits by Sampson and his assistants. Apparently there are 500 of them.:shock:I'm very surprsed that IU would hire him with this hanging over OU. You never know what else these types of investigations could uncover. Very risky on IU's part,IMO.

I think there were two or three "personal contacts" with recruits in the "non-contact" period .... that is face to face.

So if the NCAA decides this warrants some punishment, does Oklahoma get hammered or do they give it to Sampson, the man who allegedly made the phone calls? If this turns out to be true and a violation (A BIG IF) it would not be fair to allow Sampson to skate out of town, pull down about $1.5 million and Oklahoma get nailed.
But since when is life in the NCAA fair.
