Good get on Orton. But I'm not surprised he is going to UK since his father had been there a few times already. I hope Bruce has some time for potential recruit's fathers to speak at Ut camps.

I know it's not illegal, but if a school is paying for a recruits father to speak at a camp before that recruit has made a decision, then that just does not seem right to me. Something should be done to stop this if it is going on at other schools. For all I know, it may be happening at Ut.

Or maybe he was influenced by his father's previous appearances at the UK camps. You don't think his father would be promoting UK after his speaking appearances. It would only be natural for him to tout UK.

Geez, we're underwhelmed. Once you've earned the right to wear one that has 42 SEC championships on it, then come and talk to us.
And I don't care if this is the smack board, your thinly-veiled attempt to imply that there was wrongdoing in the recruitment of Orton isn't appreciated and wasn't called for, to say nothing of the fact that it's dead wrong.
You better be more concerned with keeping your football coach than trying to stir up an unfounded ruckus here.

UK became a lock when kansas pulled the scholly. Not saying Orten would not have come here in the end, but I think that clinched it, not dads at camps, or poeple yelling at lay up practice.

I never said that Uk or any other school are breaking any rules by doing this. If it's not against the rules, then I don't blame Billy C or any other coach for doing it But Having a kid's father speak at a school is going to be a recruiting advantage for that school. The NCAA should not allow any school to do this, but until they stop it, I can't blame any coach for taking advantage of it.
By the way, most Ut fans do not want to keep our current football coach.

Alright, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but re-read your posts. You have to admit there was a least a hint of some type of shenanigans. Imagine if one of us UK fans came on a UT board and said the same thing word for word about Pearl having the father of one of your recruits? What did you expect us to think?
As far as Fullmer (and being serious here) what is going to be the final nail in the coffin? another losing season? We don't get that much news on UT except for what ESPN offers up.

Fulmer gets an automatic contract extension if the Vols win 8 games. The Vols will have to win out to get 8 wins. That means beating Alabama, UK, Vandy, SC, Miss ST, and Wyoming. Alabama, Vandy and SC are losses. the UK game is at home, but if UK plays defense the way they did at Bama, then it's UK's game to lose.
Not getting 8 wins gives the AD a reason to convence Fulmer to retire.

That's what he came on here to say period. Now, like loserville fans, he tries to clean it up. ut like uavel don't know how to handle success because they're not used to it. And watch, he'll say something about football. :icon_rolleyes:

I'm still trying to figure out what UT has ever done.
One league title and one Sweet 16 in the history of their program is a "success"? That's...lackluster. To put it politely.

Technically, there is nothing wrong with hiring a potential recruit's father for a speaking engagement. Many schools have done it. Billy G just pushes the issue by hiring the kid's dad THREE times. The NCAA is already working on a new rule to forbid this in the future. I guess they can call it the "Gillespie Rule #2".

I kind of agree with the fact that paying a kids dad to speak three times is a bit much but hey it isn't against the rules not even close to being. Coachs hire parents as asst. coachs and past coachs so why not just pay a kids day to speak. Other schools paid his dad to speak as well just not 3 times. I doubt that had much to do with his commiting to us.

[self-edited] Never Mind...
But I guess having a coach that parties with students doesn't look that bad either? Maybe you should wear your Women's basketball championship shirts to at least give you a little bit of credibility. Oh wait, no one cares about Women's basketball except UT and UConn.

What was Bruce thinking? I dare him to party with a bunch of 20 year old college girls.
