In Coach Brooks Press Conference he mentioned that "Keenan Burton had a bone graft on his foot that wasn't healing properly...". I plead ignorant to knowing what a bone graft is and how extensive of a concern it is. Anybody have any knowledge of this?
I have no personal knowledge, but here's a discription of the process:

Did Keenan break a bone?

Keenan may end up being the football equivalent of Sam Bowie.
Tons of talent and physical gifts but constantly held back by injuries.

Oh, no. :(Keenan Burton is such a difference maker. Our offense really went downhill last season when he went down with the injury. How I remember Keenan in the Louisville game! He was the one wide receiver who allowed us to stretch the field. We were not the same without him.
I had been concerned when I had read that Keenan had been wearing a boot around campus. Now I ammuch moreconcerned. Too, similar to what baldcat implied, it's more than concern for this UK football team. It's concern about Keenan's future. Keenan has the talent to play on Sundays. I just hope and pray he starts to heal soon.

Does anyone know the bone that was fractured during the Idaho State games last year? I have been searching online but cannot find any details about the injury or the surgery. Bone grafts usually take a while to fuse and heal. I remember Burton only missing 3 or 4 games last year, and having pain after he returned. I am afraid they might have pushed his recovery a little too soon.

If it would have been left up to Keenan, he would have played the next game. The coaching staff tried to keep him off the field as long as possible with a twelve member Clydesdale beer wagon.
He was chomping at the bits to get back on the field. He is that competative. If you have to blame anyone, blame Keenan!
This coaching staff keeps injured players off the field. Evidenced by the large number of players NOT participating or just partially participating in Spring drills.

I wasn't blaming Keenan or the coaching staff. I am sure Burton is just wanted to get back on the field ASAP to help his team. If anyone its probably the Doctor at fault for releasing him. But again, the details of the surgery have to be known to determine that.

Sometimes minor breaks (cracks) have a harder time healing than do major complete breaks. Sam Bowie was never the same--even years after his shin bone problems. His break was so minor that his body wasn'tgetting the message to heal itself. I have 4 vertebrae in my neck with bone grafts(along with metal pins)---and for 6 months I've been wearing an electonic gizmo that sends some kind of signal through my neck that is supposed to aid in the bone grafts "taking". He could wear such a thing at night on his foot. I wonder if he is.
It will be a serious blow to our offense if we don't have Burton on the field come Sept. He will play very well against UofL if he's able to play at all. Remember that fantastic leaping one-handed catch in the end zone against the cards?
IMO we don't have a single proven goodWR except Keenan for this fall. Just have to hope he's OK and that Logan and Lyons step up---and that some of those frosh who sound very good come through when they come on board in August.
