We went on our Carnival Cruise last week to the Mexican port of Progresso and Cozumel. At Progresso, we took an excursion to the mayan ruins of Uxmal. It was the most impressive sight that I have even seen.
I had initially planned to take the Chichen Itza ruins tour, but after researching the two sights on the internet, I chose Uxmal. For those of you who like that type of stuff; don't miss it if you are in that area and enjoy tours to historical stuff. The workmanship in the structures was so beautiful, yet mind-boggling to think that those people built the structures out of stone in the 6th century. I absolutely loved it!!!
And the tequila back at the port shops wasn't bad either!:icon_mrgreen:

We took a sight seeing tour of the island of Cozumel; the rock formations and beaches on the northern (or could have been southern) end of the island are absolutely beautiful. I did not know that we would see those type of coastal scenes in Cozumel. It looked like pictures that I have seen of the mexican baja coastal area. Just so beautiful......wish I was still there!

I have been to Uxmal and Tulum. Both interesting places. Cozumel has grown quite a bit since I first started going there in 1996. Now they have nice malls and store fronts, although the taxi drivers still scare the poop outta me.

Been to Chichen Itza about 8 years back. Covers a huge area. 25, 35, 50 structures standing. They are impressive. Hot as could be in the middle of January - low 90's.

My wife and I visited Tulum on our Honeymoon. AWESOME experience, and I'd recommend it to anybody. If I were Mayan back in the day, Tulum is where I would have wanted to live.:thumbup:

We were there in June a few years ago. Undoubtedly the hottest I have ever been. Did climb the pyramid. Had to come down on my backside. Great experience.
