I read an article in our paper today about movinghorses out of harm's wayfrom Rita. Many of them are being provided a place to stay atthe Travis Expo Center, the site of rodeos, livestock shows and similar events just outside Austin. Of course, evacuees had a hard time getting them here in all the traffic.

The neatest thing I read was the story of a man, hauling a trailer full of beach horses, who would have run out of diesel fuel if it hadn't been for a stranger's help.Ashe wastrapped in the bumper to bumpertraffic, a truckdriver pulled up beside him and asked how the horses were doing. He toldhim they were okay, but he was aboutto run out of fuel. So, the trucker let him siphon gas out of his tank to make the trip.

I suffer from extreme sentimentality ;), but I liked reading this.

Thanks for sharing capcat...nice to know that there are still people who care in this world...sometimes we miss those stories for the ones about looting, raping and stealing in these kinds of situations.

One of the women in the play I'm doing owns quarter horses and standards on her Texas ranch. When she called to ask how they were, her family described for her that the horses ran out in the middle of the storm and had a party....running and kicking, stomping and jumping. They never had a better time

Thanks for sharing a story about someone's kindness, capcat. Too, I happen to love "sentimentality." :)
