Okay, Card fans, I've been giving you all a lot of grief this week and now it's my turn to be on the receiving end. VMI shot the lights out and took advantage of our youth and inexperience, but that being said, the 'Cats should have won the game. I'm not claiming moral victories nor am I trying to make a loss sound like a win, but I was pleased with the way the team fought back. This team doesn't make or break the season, there's a long way to go, and I have no doubt the 'Cats will be just fine.
Anyway, here I am. Just so I can never be accused of being a drive by poster or of disappearing after a loss. You guys fire away and say what you will. Have a ball with it. But don't expect me to bad mouth the team or act like life as I know it is over. I'm disappointed but not discouraged.
Okay, there it is. Fire away. :icon_mrgreen:

Have to give some props to DeAndre Liggins, too. I liked his poise and the way he handled the ball.

Come on guys. You're proud of your team? You are UK. The school with the most wins, the most fans, 7 NCAA titles. The self proclaimed greatest basketball program in the history of college basketball.
You just lost to VMI. You just gave up 111 points to VMI.
VMI.
There's no way...NO WAY... you should be proud of that.

VMI hit 25 threes! Seriously who does that? If UK played defense is pointless. Hitting 25 threes is an astronomical number. There are not many teams that hit 25 threes in a game. It is a bad loss but if it takes 25 threes to beat UK then I can't be mad at that.

Ul would have beaten VMI EASILY TB, don't kid yourself. Playing defense against a team that lines everybody up around the three point line isn't easy, especially early in the season, but the Cats lost the game because of ball handling and an inability to take advantage of their inside game. Samuels would have scored 30 points against VMI.
UK made a good run to make it closer, but if VMI had a bench they could have scored 150. Liggins and Miller are future stars, just not one and done type talents. Uk should be much better by the end of the season, but point guard and interior play will continue to be weaknesses.

Take off the Blue Blockers. Realism is going to hit hard.
No, UL would've beaten VMI by 30 last night. Kentucky played into VMI's tempo, not slowing the ball down and pounding inside to Patterson. Pitino would've called a time out at the 5-0 run, adjust his game plan to favor the big guys and would've called it a night. I don't understand why Billy G had Porter in there when the offense ran so much smoother under Liggins.
VMI is a rare team, no Defense and a lot of reverse ball swings, that's when you overplay the passing lanes and have no help side defense. When the help side defense came over to help, bam dish it out for the three.
Terrible coaching and terrible effort tonight by the boys, many nights like this and I'll be watching UL play in March.

I have no blue blockers on.....I simply believe that UL would not have beaten this team last night.....not the way they were shooting the 3

Go ahead and say what you will, 4TC. Like it or not, everything you said in your first paragraph is still true, whether you choose to believe it or not. Frankly, I could care less what your opinion of UK is. And yes, as hard as it may seem for you to understand, we are proud of our team. You're just twisting words around to try and get us to bite on it. We have been, are now, and will continue to be proud of the 'Cats, because we have reason to be and one bad game doesn't change that.
But hey, I started this thread so you guys could take your turn and get it all out of your system. You and your bunch just say what you're gonna say and be done with it. Just be prepared for what you're gonna hear when Louisville has a bad game or two..and you know as well as we do it's gonna happen. (And don't think we don't know already what your response will be..you won't defend the Cards, you'll just throw this game and other bad ones UK has had at us and try to deflect attention..which is the Cardinal Double Standard..History only counts when it APPEARS to make the Cardinals look good..and that's fine. We already know what your m.o. is)
Have fun and keep firing away if it makes you feel good.

I didn't know you asked me a question. Modern technology has things like picture in a picture and the amount of commercials they play during a football game gave me ample time to see enough of the UK game.
Yes, VMI shot well. UL and Pitino still would have fouled out their entire front line. Do you realize Uk had 25 turnovers and VMI had 13 steals? 17 assists to 25 turnovers is going to cost you in a lot of games. Porter's 2 points, 1 assist, and 5 turnovers isn't going to cut it in Division 1 ball.

I am confused..I thought you were a UK fan:shrug1:
and if you saw UL performance in their 2 exhibitions games you will understand why I said VMI would beat them
In PJs defense, he IS a big UK fan. Just young and frustrated as we all were.
Haven't watched UL play and won't until they play UK, but I was thinking last night that there are many teams VMI would have beaten last night. Maybe all the points would not have been scored, but they would have won. And then maybe it was playing the "storied" UK team in their house. Who knows. Its over. Pick up the pieces and move on to the Tarheels.
TBCF....sorry I can't help you with your smack. My dislike of UL is beyond smack. My co-workers and hubby have made me that way over the past few years. But get 'em Terri!!!!!! Love reading your posts :icon_twisted:

Would UL have been beaten last night? Who knows, that's why they lace em up and play the game.
UK could drive it all night to the hole. Why they didn't is beyond me. Pretty much nobody but Meeks and Harris did.
80 foot passes are not gonna be successful very often. You gotta take care of the basketball. 25 turnovers will not win many games.

Back in the summer, I said if a team shuts down Patterson, then UK will struggle. Last night proved my point. I don't care who else scores for UK, they need Patterson to get at least 15 points and 12 rebounds every game, because he is the inside game for UK.

You have a point but VMI didn't shut down Patterson. UK shut down Patterson. UK fell into the trap that VMI set which is playing at their pace by playing all in transition. Really it would have been hard not to fall into that trap. When you have wide open lay ups you have to take them. You can't just pull it out for the simple fact of you want to slow it down.

Nope, there's NOT many teams who hit 25 threes in a game - INCLUDING VMI. :icon_lol:
VMI made 14 threes out of 31 attempts.
