I'm going to be in the northern KY area Friday night. Going to a football game at Beechwood. Any recommendations for lodging in the area? We'd like to stay relatively close (5-15 miles) to where the game will be (I think Fort Mitchell is the name of the town?). Also, any help as far as good food is concerned would be greatly appreciated, too.

"L'meyer"...Fort Mitchell is about half way, not quite but close, between Florence, KY and Newport/Covington, KY-d'town Cinti...you're within 5 miles of Ft. Mitchell, either way, and there are decent hotels in any of these areas. If you'd prefer to avoid d'town traffic/parking, Florence may be your better option. I believe there's a Hilton in Florence, as well as most of the budget chain facilities.
Regarding restaurants, there's a "Rafferty's" in Florence, and many well-known chain restaurants, and in Fort Mitchell, there's a location for a Cinti. favorite, "Montgomery Inn", known for their ribs.
There are far too many details which I could provide but I hope this info gives you a brief, helpful overview. Enjoy your visit and good luck!

Stay in Florence, specifically at the Turfway Exit.
I usually use the Red Roof Inn - it's relatively inexpensive and it's basically new.
Lots of restaurant choices nearby, plus easy access to I-75, and you're 5 minutes from your game.

Litt, lots of hotel choices at Turfway, US 42, on I-275 towards airport from I-75/71, & also Comfort Inn in Erlanger at Commonwealth Ave/Donaldson Rd exit. All within 5-8 miles of Beechwood. Numerous restaurants at Turfway exit, & at Crestview Hills Mall one exit east of I-75/71.
Also, could go past Beechwood to DT Covington hotels, 3-4 miles.
Can't miss Beechwood field. As you get off at Dixie Hwy exit, you can see field to your right when on exit ramp. Park in Kroger or in the gravestone store lot just south. You can get into field on the right side of Kroger around the back.
BTW, go Tigers! My son is a Beechwood grad.

Thanks, all, for the quick responses! Looks like there's plenty of choices nearby.

I'm pretty nervous about this game. We've done something that, I believe, no other team...ever...has done: Beat Mayfield twice in one season.
But Beechwood is Beechwood. :icon_neutral: They won state all four years that I was in high school, and I believe they've won several more since that time. We've got one title: In 1985. So this game is a pretty big deal for our boys. I hope they can pull it out, but there's no doubt that we're the huge underdogs.

^Frankly, won't mind if you win. Spread the wealth around a bit (I know, very Obamaesque of me.).

Depends on what you have planned for after the game. Newport On The Levee offers the best night-life in Northern Ky...better even than downtown Cincy in my opinion. Any of the Covington Hotels put you within a mile...many have shuttles and TANK bus operates a Southbank shuttle that runs until midnight. You can get anywhere in Covington or Newport for $1.50. (Hofbrauhaus is a must visit...very unique dining/entertainment experience).
You can't go wrong staying in Turfway either...just not quite the night-life that you would get in Covington or Newport.

Got good reviews from family members who stayed at Commonwealth Hilton (http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/CVGCHHF-Hilton-Cincinnati-Airport-Kentucky/index.do) on the more expensive side and Extended Stay America (http://www.extendedstayamerica.com/minisite/?hotelID=684) on the cheap side. Both are on Turfway Road in Florence. I've gotten bad reviews from The Drawbridge Inn in Ft. Mitchell. Seems it's gone downhill over the years. The Days Inn on Dixie Hwy. in Ft. Wright is a dump and the noise from the highway is very loud. Stay away!
For a good meal away from the chains, try the Greyhound Grill (http://www.greyhoundtavern.com/entrees.htm) on Dixie Highway in Ft. Mitchell. Entrees are from $10-$25.
I'll never go back to Montgomery Inn in Ft. Mitchell. Had the Colorado Ribs on my anniversary in September but they were tough & just horrible. Like chewing leather to be honest. Been to 2 of 3 locations recently and still consider it over-rated. Luckily someone else picked up the tab at the MI Boathouse downtown but it's better than the KY location overall.
In Florence, my wife and I have been pleased with O'Charley's (http://www.ocharleys.com/menu/) near Turfway & Houston Road but it's also a chain restaurant.

Well, Litt, I wish the game would have been more exciting for you. Did you enjoy the visit otherwise?

Had a great trip, gerntz.
Ended up staying with some friends, and they had already booked rooms at The Drawbridge Inn. Best thing about that place was the restaurant and it's proximity to the football field. Had no problems at all getting to and from the game.
Beechwood is a VERY good football team. I don't think they'll have any problems with Hazard.
The Beechwood fans are some of the most gracious hosts I've ever been around. Great comments from a lot of them about our team and fan support, and one lady even brought a bag of hand-warmers to our section to hand out. Very classy fans.

^ Sounds great (ex the game). I live about two miles from the Drawbridge - other side of I-75 on Buttermilk & another mile.
