He did an amazing job with what was a pitiful defense the year before. It was a difference that was awesome to see.

Ron English is a great coach. Michigan should never have let the guy get away, and now Louisville has lost their only bright spot from this years team.

I hate to see him go, but you know the guy felt like Einstein working with kindergartners.

English left a coordinator's position to become a HEAD Coach. What is sad is the fact he is only the 5th African American Head Coach . That is what is worthy of a thread.

Sure buddy. Lets see, Watched them play once in football this past season, it was against UK. Have not watched them at all in hoops. But thats cool, those things you think are really in your head.

Obviously the things I think are in my head because that is where my brain is but thanks for the attempted anatomy lesson.

Actually after the UofL Rutgers game I was not really sure who was Einstein and who were the Kindergartners.

Actually in your last 5 games Einstein coached his "D" up to giving up an average of just 40pts/game.

I think English was simply saving face and realized that "U Michigan isn't walking through that door."

I bet a lot of coaches would like to "save face" by getting a head coaching job. The top jobs in football hire experienced head coaches, not experienced coordinators.

EMU is not a top job, hence is hiring a coordinator.

I know its not you Yule, but I wish people would stop playing the race card when it comes to hiring coaches. The media makes African American coaches seem inferior with the way they talk about them. They make it a huge issue that a school hires one and then when a school hires a white guy they make it a huge issue that they didnt. I thought we were supposed to all be treated equal? If so, why suggest each team has a certain number of black coaches? Schools should hire coaches if they are worthy of the job, not be pressured into it because of skin color.

TC,

I am an overweight white guy from the suburbs, but when there are over 200 head coaching jobs available and only 5 of them have an African American as a head coach something is wrong. African Americans account for almost 50% of the players, but a tiny, tiny percentage of the head coaches. That is just flat out wrong.

I am not in favor of "forced" hiring either, but it is obvious the playing field is still not level.

Well this doesn't have anything to do with UK because UK has a AA coming as soon as the old man is out.
