Hello all - Not sure where to post this. I have noticed a few posts with "hidden" cursing - using symbols to stand in for curse words. I hate to see that here and I thought it was not allowed. One of the reasons I respect this board so much is that people are generally pretty clean on here. I like to read about basketball without all the "extras" myself.
Merry Christmas everyone and GO BIG BLUE!

If you see something you feel is inappropriate, you need to send a private message to an Adm. or Mod giving them the information they need to find and review the post. You can rest assured they'll take the appropriate action.

This is, absolutely, the most civil board I've ever seen. Hats off to the Mods.

It's not so much hidden as blocked. If someone types a word that is on the "blocked" list, the board software automatically filters it out. It does a good job. We try to keep it clean due to the family atmosphere. You don't have to swear to get you point across. Cursing is so much a part of society these days, and I'm guilty of it myself, it can be hard to change.

Heh heh. "Deadwood" is a GREAT show. Gotta love that Al Swearengen. He doesn't have that last name for nothing.

On a somewhat unrelated subject, Don't let your kids watch the movie Tropic Thunder if you don't want them to hear language. I bought it on PPV the other night and the language was horrible.

It was rated R for a reason.
For general information - if the software askerisks (blocks) a word it shouldn't be here but there are a few gliches. An example would be that you can't type Jared *****ett without it being masked. Of couse that is not a swear word but the software can't differentiate.
OTOH, if you feel the need to mask a word in your own post such as putting dollar signs in the place of s's, it also doesn't need to be here. Just think of another word to use.

Not all rated R movies have language like that.It was very excessive.

Not all the time, but usually, if a comedy is rated R, it's not because of drug use, excessive violence, or things of that nature... it's because of raunch and dirty language. And these days, the better comedies (at least in my opinion) are all of the R rated variety. "The 40 Year Old Virgin," "Knocked Up," "Old School," "American Pie," "Tropic Thunder," "Role Models," "Pineapple Express," etc. etc.
Bad language or not, "Tropic Thunder" was pretty darn funny. Great satire on the ridiculousness of Hollywood.

This is the most civil board I have run across to date and the reason I left all the others behind and refuse to read them. Unlike those boards you can actually have an opinion and a civil discussion here.

Definitely is one of the cleanest boards I have found. I do appreciate the job that everyone does. Actually I just introduced my parents to this site. My mom is really impressed!

Don't be fooled, Lighthouse has his wife log him on and do his posting. He just "dictates". We all know officials can't see anything.:icon_twisted:
