You guys gonna talk smack and mock anger about this and imply there were recruiting violations now? C'mon, let's hear it......

http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20081228/SPORTS11/812280513/1029/SPORTS03

Owensboro Catholic eighth-grader Becca Greenwell created a recruiting buzz during last week's Republic Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic and already has scholarship offers from elite programs such as Louisville, North Carolina and Duke.

"I knew it was coming, but it's a little sooner than I thought it would be," Owensboro Catholic coach Ray Zuberer said. "I knew she was a really, really good player. I am just surprised there is this much attention so early."
In four games at LexCath, the 6-foot Greenwell, who can play every position, finished with 62 points and a tournament-high 44 rebounds -- including 15 against Pulaski Southwestern.
U of L coach Jeff Walz and two assistants watched her in the tournament, and Zuberer said Duke also had a coach in town. Both schools told him they had a scholarship offer on the table to Greenwell; she received one from North Carolina after a summer camp.

it's only wrong when UK does it. Double standard by the media is amazing!

I think it is funny that when CBG did it then it was crazy and other college coachs do it as well but he caught a lot of heat for it. It was all over the media now you hear nothing of this I think partly because it is a old subject and partly since it is ladies ball instead of mens. It is interesting to see the lack of attention regardless of the reason.

An offer and a commitment are two different things. Does it say that Pitino cried in the kids livingroom? Does it say that Pitino shed tears and told the kid it was the "happiest day of his life"? I think not.

BTW, way to struggle against FIU.....lol.

Oh, now just because Louisville offered and the girl hasn't FORMALLY accepted, there's nothing wrong with that, huh?

:icon_mad:If you look up the word "hypocritical" in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of a Cardinal beside it. Your coach OFFERED the scholarship with the obvious hope the girl will accept it. There is NO difference except the double standard you keep setting. If Louisville does it, it's perfectly acceptable. Anyone else is at least giving the impression of wrongdoing.

The truth is there's been absolutely NO WRONGDOING by any coach anywhere. YOU clowns started this whole mess by trying to accuse our coach of breaking the rules. Then when the tables are turned, you act like you're above it (the exact same thing you accused us of doing..)
And then, of course, you try to deflect criticism by pulling some lame smack out of thin air..

Geez, you guys are so bleetin' predictable it's not even funny anymore..

First off you might want to read the article or maybe even my comment before you respond. It wasn't Pitino that did it. Although he did it way before and got a commitment as well. But that was his first year at UL so that year has probably been blocked from you memory as has every year that Pitino hasn't made it to the Final Four. So I guess Slick Rick has only been at UL for what one year.

Secondly who played FIU? UK didn't. But I seem to remember someone saying a win is a win when they barely beat Bellarmine last year or maybe it was this year when UL beat freakin Georgetown College by 7.

He doesn't care, chworld. As long as Louisville does it, it's perfectly alright. Even losses are acceptable as long as he can find a way to justify it, and he always can. And he's not interested in getting facts right. He'll spin any fact he can (even if he's wrong) to make UK look bad or Louisville look good. Then if you call him on it, he cops an attitude and accuses UK fans of being petty and taking things too seriously.

Well I agree but if he is going to talk smack shouldn't he atleast get the team name right even if he isn't going to read what the article says.

I would think that someone who's sports teams have had so many stumbles this year he would back off that smack. Anyones team who loses to Minn and Tubby, and WKU I would say I would shy away from the smack talk. :shrug1:. But, what do I know I am just going to a bowl game in a couple days. :icon_lol:

Dress warm, you will need it.

I am still trying to figure out how it is against NCAA rules to now offer boys scholarships this young and not girls. Something is fishy.

I will be dressed warm but it isn't going to be too bad. I am just hoping the wind isn't kicking like it was in Nashville last year. The satellite dish fell twice last year.

I am with you on the rules. I think it funny that it is ok for you to do it with the ladies but not with the men. That was my original comment before we went down this current road. I am sure there is something behind it which makes it ok. I guess it has something to do with money most things do.

So your coach is an uncaring, unemotional jerk? Don't complain to us about it.

You keep this up and I'm going to start calling him "Pitino LIED", and I guarantee I have evidence of that.

That is totally unrelated to this thread! It is funny when you have no point you go back to the same thing.

There is a huge difference between the two schools. They are two seperate schools. It is also pretty funny that you are bringing up a weak schedule when you have played who? When was the last ranked team you played? Yea that is what I thought. UNC, Miami, K State, and WVU all good basketball teams. UL has played UAB as their headliner so far.

Yea he is really professional. I am not even going to touch that with a 10 foot pool. :icon_lol:

Why don't you stick to the topic of the thread instead of going off in an unrelated tangent? Is it because this makes UL look bad. I remember you being one of the ones that were smacking Billy pretty hard for doing the same exact thing. It isn't Pitino doing it (or being reported this time for doing it) but it is UL's program.

You don't keep up so well; Minnesota is ranked. Miami and K state are no longer in the top 40.

Never said I was mad at him nor have I ever been. He's the coach of the University of Louisville. He's not my enemy. I've gone on record many times as saying how appreciative I am of his tenure at UK and all he did for the program.
I could give one very explicit example as to how he lied and it is still fresh in everyone's memory, but I'm not going to get into that kind of stuff. The only reason I brought it up is in the (probably futile) hope that you would give that "Billy CRIED" stuff a rest. Yeah, I know you're just doing it to give us UK fans a hard time, but you make it sound like it's wrong for a coach to get emotional. I knew if I used the "Pitino LIED" bit, it would at least get your attention. And it obviously did. You're already getting defensive about it. How does it feel? Two can play at that game and I can be just as silly about it as you can, if that's the way you want to play it.

Look again at the post before you come back at me like that. I never said any of them individually were ranked I said when was the last time UL played a ranked team. Then gave examples of good teams that UK had played. UL has played Minn who are only ranked NOW because they beat you guys when you were way overrated.

So thanks for trying to talk but maybe you need to read and comprehend before you talk again. Spin away on that one.
