I have always wondered why they allow college baseball to use aluminum bats. I can understand at the lower levels of ball, with the bats being lighter, thus easier to swing. I think at the college level players are developed enough toswing a wood bat. I am no expert, but it seems to methat batting averages are inflated at the college level due to the use of aluminum bats. Are they used tomake the game more exciting due to more runs being scored?I would think it would give batters anunfair advantage. Whatdo youguys think?

I think colleges want to save the money of aluminum & not have to carry so many to away games. Same reason Little League & high schools use them.

From what I've read, cost is indeed the major issue in college. For little leauge and HS I'm not sure. I'd think that in LL, weight is also an issue. I know that when I started playing LL at age 8 I could barely even lift a wooden bat.

The one question I have, is do minor league and college baseball teams play by NL or AL rules?

I can't say 100%, but I believe minor leagues affiliated with major leagues dd play by same rules - wood bats, substitution. Colleges don't - aluminum bats & substitutions allowed at least are different.

College apparently doesn't play strictly by either. The UK-Fla game that was rained out in the 7th on Fri evening was to be completed on Saturday before the start of the next game. A rain-out in the 7th would go to the leading team in the pros--not to a completion sometime later.

Yea the biggest thing I couldn't figure out was the DH rule...Sometimes I saw a DH sometimes a pitch hitter, sometimes the pitcher.

The reason why college and all levels below use aluminum bats is finances. Buying an aluminum bat that will not break is cheaper in the long run because you don't have to keep replacing them.
